Click on thumbnailed images to enlarge
Step 1: Open up any image you want.
Press CTRL+A to select all. Then press CTRL+C to copy.
Step 2: Now press CTRL+N to make a new document. Make sure you change the color setting to grayscale.
Step 3: Then press CTRL+V to paste your image. And you're done!
OR
Step 1: Open up any image you want and make a new layer.
Step 2: Select the paint bucket tool and fill the new layer with black.
Step 3: Change the layer setting to color.
And you're done!

There's even a faster way (I use photoshop CS3): go to image-> adjustment-> black and white-> ok
and your done!
