i think that you should approve more of the submissions that people send in. everytime i try to submit something, it always gets denied. or you could atleast give me a reason why my stuff is denied.

i like www.deviantart.com better, atleast they let you put whatever art you want up. geesh.

Deviantart is a place for artists to post up their work. cB only posts up (i think they're working on this now, if i'm right) good quality graphics. The design staff doesn't just accept anything.

If you have a question about your submissions - PM the person who rejected them, and they will give you more feedback.

And createblog's purpose is not to build a portfolio like deviantart - they graphics here are for other people's use.

Correct. We're for RESOURCES. You actually have to go under Resources for DA.

And besides, if you keep noticing your stuff getting rejected that really should tell you something. Ask for an open ended critique. Really. It's sad just to say APPROVE MORE SUBMISSIONNNSSSSS. We approve what we think is best.

Like others have said, we approve what we think deserves to be here. And please have patience guys, right now there's like 240 graphics in queue. Don't resubmit them 23598950835 times because you don't get an answer back in a few days. Wait a bit.

hmm. this reminds me of something i wanted to implement long time ago. on the next update i *might* let the approving process be more democratic.

for example, anyone will be able to browse through the unapprove items, and if they like something, give their vote of approval. once it reaches a certain number... say 5, it will be approved. the default view will be only for approved items (so that newbies will still get the quality they are looking for). and moderators have the right to reverse the approval (something like a minus vote).

in the meantime, why dont you suggest it here (http://www.createblog.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=160785) so that i am reminded.

^hah, i faintly remember thinking about a system like that.

But back when I was mod.
There was a lot of layouts to go through..
so i agree with jackie.
and anyways.
the mods know what they're doing, and what the majority of what the users here at cb want.
so they accept layouts/graphics for the audience.
which does mean sometimes that people don't like this site because we don't accept 'ghetto/gangster' layouts.
but we want people to respect our site for it's high quality.
because back in the summer, we went through a MAJOR cleanup.
and it wasn't fun.
and we REALLY noticed the lack of time going into accepting/denying contributions.
we found a lot of things against the rules.
maybe i'll go back and edit this post later with the topic about this.
then maybe you'll understand.
?

edit//
so.
i looked back and found these topics:

in the minor changes/updates topic in announcements, Dani (Libertie) made this post:
http://www.createblog.com/forums/index.php...t&p=2225365

And in feedback, Radhika (rawtheekuh), brought up this topic:
http://www.createblog.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=146495

Hope this helps..

i`ve seen some real crap around CB, but i`m pretty sure it was from before. some of the myspace layouts are terrible. i mean i`m no goddess at layouts, but they look just.. idk not good.
yeah, constructive criticism would be nice on denied things.

^Thing is, that would be pretty time consuming..
And if the contributer asks the moderator [kindly, of course. wink.gif] for constructive critism, then they will.
Sometimes you just have to ask.
There's no point of writing out a list of reasons for somebody who doesn't want them.
But they will for the people who do want them.

The only thing about getting 5 votes is that someone can submit a generated layout (which we don't accept) that everyone likes and yea. pinch.gif

Well then maybe an official member/designer should vote for it's approval?

And then sent back into the submissions place.hah.
Maybe it's possible for a new section for the submissions?
"REJECTED BUT FOUR PEOPLE PLUS AN OFFICIAL MEMBER/DESIGNER LIEKS IT!"

wow..that's a long title.

or.
if a layout is rejected because it's against the rules, it shouldn't be allowed to go into that new contributions page, or whatever we'll call it.

I don't like the voting idea for contributions as I trust in the mods' decision for approvals better.

And if only official designers could vote, it wouldn't really work because only a few official designers regularly visit cB for other than submitting stuff.

^ I agree. I can forsee a lot of things going wrong with a system like that. For example, if a crap layout or graphic is rejected and then the member goes off and gets five buddies to vote for it to be put back. Hmmmm....I have at least a dozen other scenarios running through my mind about this. I mean, the decision to make a call on stuff like that is what mods are for. To be honest, topics like this reassure me that mods are indeed trying to do their job in making sure cB only offers the best quality graphics.
