MySpace layouts in particular. Here are examples:

http://www.createblog.com/layouts/download.php?id=13386
http://www.createblog.com/layouts/download.php?id=13385
http://www.createblog.com/layouts/download.php?id=13384
http://www.createblog.com/layouts/download.php?id=13383
http://www.createblog.com/layouts/download.php?id=13382
http://www.createblog.com/layouts/download.php?id=13364
http://www.createblog.com/layouts/download.php?id=13299
http://www.createblog.com/layouts/download.php?id=13181

What the hell? How on earth did those get through the queue? Those are piss poor. And those aren't even all of them! It's basically taking an image from Google, adding a few brushes, putting it through a generator, adjusting the code a little and submitting it. Is that what cB layouts have come to be? Has our design staff become a bunch of rubber stamps? (Not trying to attack you, but look at those layouts!) Please, prove me wrong.

If need be, please add more links.

I love you, Radhika. worthy.gif

I've noticed that a lot of these were horrible, too.

http://www.createblog.com/layouts/preview.php?id=13197
http://www.createblog.com/layouts/preview.php?id=13189
http://www.createblog.com/layouts/preview.php?id=12876
http://www.createblog.com/layouts/preview.php?id=12845
http://www.createblog.com/layouts/preview.php?id=12820 (Yeah, sure it's a div, might have taken a while. I still think it's horrible. Bad image quality, too.)

I'd list more, but I think you get the point. Anyone can basically just get these images off google and go mess around with a generator and TA-DA! Get that layout.

Thanks for bringing this up. This was an issue brought up not too long ago in which I said:

QUOTE
Another thing I have taken note of is that some of you are not satisfied with the quality of layouts that have been accepted and I can agree because I have a had to go back reject several that have already been accepted. We all know that those staff members that can accept layouts and graphics have their different standards but it's always important to remember quality over quanity as Jusun said to me when mentioning this issue a while back. I hope those staff members take note of this feedback and work on it.

If anything use these layouts as examples of what not to accept. Alot, if not all, do not meet up to cB standards and even micron has voiced concern about this. To those that can accept layouts and graphics and have accepted some of these, please step it up. We want to be a site known as having the best graphics and layouts around so accept only the best. You know, the layouts and graphics that show talent and hard work put into them. [/ pep talk]

I TOTALLY AGREE x48648648748648596486465415641 and more!

those layouts have really nothing unique about them, just about anyone can make them.
for example:
http://www.createblog.com/layouts/preview.php?id=13205
http://www.createblog.com/layouts/preview.php?id=13089
http://www.createblog.com/layouts/preview.php?id=13011
http://www.createblog.com/layouts/preview.php?id=13068

no offence or anything but i really don't know what's going thought the peoples' minds when they accept it.

I'd have to say I agree. It's hard to find a good layout anymore. You have to search and search and search. I'm not very good in making layouts (the reason I have not submitted any), and most of them I could make myself.

well I didn't accept any of those, except one.

Two of them are gone from the first list because they shouldn't have been accpeted because of copyrights.

I will take in consideration of your opinions and thank you for them.'

PS
now that ive looked at some of them, I do agree that they shouldn't have been accepted. Some of them I think should have. Because theres nothing wrong with them, and its just your personal opinion that they look bad.

^I actually sort of liked that one. :x

But you're right, cB is pretty much known for having "better than average" and good quality layouts, and lately it seems like the standard has lowered down a bit. I'm sure the mods will take note of this and start setting the standard higher. thumbsup.gif

Setting the standard Higher

I already get chewed out by plenty of people everyday for not accepting their layouts. I go by the rules that were written already for submitting layouts, i'll reject any layouts that go against the rules.

Okay. Seriously. Enough with these topics. They're getting old. PM someone with powers to take them down.

Yes, the feedback is nice, but the gazillion topics about it? NOT COOL.

Just PM someone. Okay? Yeah, the layouts are, meh, but its not like anybody's ever really original anymore.

And those graphics, a lot of those can be classified as "stock images", meaning, they can be altered. They're not just for use as is.

^Yea I agree.

Everyones getting in their little up roars ever since this Hiring session has started.

Quarantine. - I do agree with you about some of those graphics, its been solved.
Some on the other hand are just your opinion that they shouldn't be accepted when there really isn't anything wrong with some.

Same goes for all the layouts, although some really shouldn't have been accepted.

You haven't exactly given anyone good enough reason to move them.

Crappy, is apparently all the rage.

Well when people submit pictures of themselves I tell them that we have a nice picture forum that they can go to and chat away and post their pictures.

We also have a art subforum that people also should know about.

Crappy and Unoriginal stuff is all the rage, haha.

I wasn't trying to piss you off or anything by saying "setting the standard higher". And I definitely wasn't complaining about this problem, either. I'm sorry if it came off that way...

I personally think the stock images are useful and nice...as long as they don't take up most of the graphics section. thumbsup.gif

I dont accept the pictures that look like they took it by themselves. Total myspace pictures.

If they look like some thought was given into them and could possibly be used in a graphic of some sorts, then I accept it.

Crappy is all the rage? NO.
Crappy is never 'all the rage.' By going by that standard, cB is becoming just like all the other sites. There are plenty of other places you can find stock images. Like I said, stock images ARE NOT graphics. If you want, you should create a seperate section for stock images. And btw Kristina, those images do not look like stock pictures. AT ALL. Those are pictures one would put on their MySpace. And those layouts? Sigh.

I'll edit this later. G'night.

ehm night.

You know everyone is going to have a different opinion of what looks good as in layouts and what is bad. I mean some stuff is like hands down tacky. And thats why their not accepted more than likely.

We have rules that we go by for the layouts and I think everyone goes by them well when it comes to accepting and rejecting. I suppose anyway. Some I question a lot.

The layouts posted in here have been taken care of.

But seriously. That whole gangta-colourful yet extremely tacky look everyone likes.

People who haven't been exposed to REAL graphics like the crappy stuff.
