help section in the main createblog page Options

hey guys, i noticed the help section in the main createblog.com is still empty...
http://www.createblog.com/help.php

i was thinking of a simple FAQ style help section for new-comers, not too much info since they will probably be ignored yet have the most important things a new person should know about

what do you guys think? feedback would be appreciated..

^ That's actually not a bad idea. We could implement the posts in the FAQ (http://www.createblog.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=88471) in a more "official" place.

i was thinking of something more simpler since people wont read something thats long, especially newbies (i would think)

^ Maybe, like, the really important parts of the FAQ thread could be shown there, with a link to the thread for "more information." That way it's all there, but you won't have to sift through everything to get the information you need right away.

hi all,

i think the faq is too comprehensive. when i made the help link, i had things like 'how to install a xanga layout' kind of newbie questions in mind. if someone who's good in written english could help create such a faq, i would be greatly appreciated. and ofcourse, your work will be created. =)

hey guys can anyone help with the "how to install blogger/livejournal/myspace layout"
i have no idea how they are installed since i dont use any of those bloging services...

so far this is what i've come up with... i've tried not to put too much info as not to overwhelm the newbies, if you have any suggestions/comments please post

i also plan to change the wording on the later questions to make it simple and less wordy

How do I install a layout?
Blogger layout-
Livejournal layout-
Myspace layout-
Xanga layout- Go to "Look & feel" and copy and paste "header html" into "javascript module" and "website stats" into "website stats"
*Don't forget to change the general settings (if different) and remember to change the username (in the code) to your xanga username.

How do I customize my member profile page?
Click on "my controls" -> "Edit Profile info" on the left menu; enter in your personal information.

How do I customize my member profile picture?
Click on "my controls" -> "Change Personal Photo" on the left menu; upload a photo.

How do I customize my member title?
Click on "my controls" -> "Edit Profile info" on the left menu; enter in a custom member title.

How do I customize my signature?
Click on "my controls" -> "Edit Signature" on the left menu; customize accordingly
*Remember there is a 300 pixel of vertical maximum space and a 573 pixel of horizontal maximum space.  This is to prevent stretching the forum. Graphics in your signature should also add up to less than 100kB in filesize.

How do I customize my avatar?
Click on "my controls" -> "Edit Avatar Settings" on the left menu; upload your own avatar or use one preset by cB.

I'm on dial-up! Is there any way I can load createBlog more quickly?
Click on "my controls" -> "Board Settings" on the left menu; you can choose to hide avatars and signatures so that threads will more quickly. You can also choose to view the lo-fi version of the forum by clicking "lo-fi version," located at the bottom of the page beside "©2005 createblog.com"

Here are some brief instructions:

After logging in, go to http://www.livejournal.com/modify.bml. Under "Page Layout Style", choose GENERATOR. Under "Color Theme" make sure the boxes are all blank, then paste the code in the "Overrides" box. Then make sure you have a website listed in your profile (http://www.livejournal.com/editinfo.bml).

(They must also change their username in the links.)
