Okay, I should've made it clearer, I wish that more of people staff had forum presence. In People Staff, I personally feel that only James has forum presence.

ok staff, take notes.

people want mods who are members of the community. not mods who are mods. mods who are mods are disconnected from the community.

Backstage, from the looks of it. All three online are "reading board index."

Out of curiosity, are mods still not allowed to be invisible? Or was that a blogring rule?

and to add a bit more, after what happened this last week, I feel that the current mods should step up their game even more and in a way, solidify the sense of community on cb. It seems that it's completely fallen apart now.

Assuming there was ever a sense of community in the first place. You can't really fix what you haven't broken. I don't feel as if moderators had a significant forum presence before, anyway, but people have other things to do, especially at this time. The criticism would be more constructive at another time.

ok staff, take notes.

Yea, yea you tell 'em. He's was on the mod team, a former ex-Head Staff. Listen to him.

lol.

But seriously, yea you should be all around the forums if you're a moderator, especially as people staff. I mean, just because maybe the anime, food, Relationships, etc. forums might not have been touched or something by other moderators, you're still supposed to go around to each forum, do something here, do something there, etc.

But moving topics and stuff is important as well as a strong presence. People want to see that you're actively participating in a community that you've been selected to lead, whether it be participation or moderation. That balance is what keeps you on, ESPECIALLY if you are part of People Staff. I'm not going to deal with Design Staff or anything because I'm not really over there... Haha.

And it's not even about "having" a sense of community at this time. There is always a sense of community, but it depends on how you handle it. I mean, without a sense of community, don't you think everything would be in chaos? Just because we have the drama and crap doesn't mean that everything is falling apart. I think it's that kind of pessimistic attitude that boggles me, that's all.

EDIT - MissHygienic, I am not attacking you or anything. This is just a general statement, but it incorporates what you've said. I know you've been around also, as I've seen you. thumbsup.gif

p.s. jusun deleted stevens account, not any of the admins.

edit://

here's my opinion on design staff. i don't really think that they should be held accountable for not having a strong enough forum presence. How many of the people posting in this topic actually visit the Resource Center? Should we expect the design staffers to have to answer questions in the RC while moderating topics there as well, go through 50+ layouts and 50+ graphics in the queue, submit layouts, and then turn around and post whore in the community center? Sounds like we're asking too much of them, in my opinion. People staff are only required to moderate the community center and keep their post count up. (Not saying that they do less than the design staff, just saying that it's like apples and oranges. You can't expect the same things out of DS as you would from PS.)

so why do we go to such great lengths to find design staffers with a 5.0 ppd when the second they get hired they're going to have to start focusing more in the RC than the CC? Most of the people even interested in design only come here to share their expertise by posting in the RC or submitting a ton of layouts. Why would they care about the community center?

just sayin.
