Before posting realize that I am only referring to the Graphics Showcase section, thank you.

I don't waste my time the graphic showcase section anymore because I rarely see anything original graphics. It seems as just about every piece of "artwork" is a/an:
  • Blend
  • Icon
  • Signature
  • Vector-overlay
  • Photo-manipulation
  • Collage
  • (note: I am leaving out colorization, because copyrighted images are generally needed to do this)
made using copyright images. I'm not saying that it doesn't take great skill or effort to create these pieces, but I am saying that it limits your creativity. I hate seeing people create a collage of copywrited images and call it their own work, yet I see it all the time. I upsets me. If I ever saw someone take my work, create a blend, and seriously call it their own, I would be furious.

Alright, to be fair, I know that even I occasionally create things based upon the copyrighted work of others, but the majority of my artwork is original. I rarely see completely original artwork found in the showcase forum. It seems as if 99.9% of the creations seen on Createblog are made using copyrighted images. I have a better chance at getting someone pregnant while wearing a condom than seeing a completely original piece of artwork on this site.

Many of you may think I'm complaining, but I'm not. I'm only stating the truth. This is createblog.com. A place that was supposedly grounded on creativity, and the only thing I see is copyrighted images being claimed by impostors as artwork. Do you think that this is creative? This wouldn't be such a problem if it wasn't such a frequent thing. Look at the first page:

What are your thoughts?

yea, actually, i do think it's creative. If a person has the ability to turn a bunch of regular boring pictures into an awesome collage, i think its pretty damn creative, whether they took the pictures themself or not. i've seen some amazing graphics created with copyrighted images. Like someone said earlier, not everyone can draw. If we all could, i'm sure all of us would draw the unique stuff we have in our minds and then make it look cooler in a graphics program. However, for the people who cant do this, they display their imaginations and thoughts by editing images that have already been taken and creating something with them, maybe into a piece of unique work that means something to them. And yes, at times the images used are copyrighted. But it's not like people who use copyrighted images and edit/manipulate them into their graphics are all "look at this piece of artwork i 100% created in photoshop with just the default tools!"

So i guess all fanart bothers you.

I can appreciate your concern for originality, but to throw something out there - Perhaps the canvas (or original image) isn't unique or original, but the way the image has been interpreted, utilized, manipulated, etc is.

i agree.

I don't think it's all "fanart" that bothers me. I think it has to do with people coming in one after the other and doing the same thing over and over again. I think that i have just been on this site long enough for it to bother me.
