The racism of black history month, v. 2.0, from white history month. Options

Okay, so I am not trying to be racist or anything, but who here agrees with me that the black people are getting way more recognition than the whites?

Now we have black history month, black activists month, and negro colleges/college funds? This is just not fair.

Everyone believes that if we have a white history month then we will be racist? We aren't. Blacks are getting everything nowadays and if the white people try to put say into anything, it gets shoved back in our face as a racist comment.

I love black history and everything, but I have pride in being white and we get no recognition whatsoever? Does anyone agree with me..

And please don't say I am being racist. I live in the South for God's sake.

things to keep in mind whilest you debate:

• there is an asain history month. and a month for whatever else you can think of, except penguins of course. penguins are discriminated against for sure.
• every month is not white history month. check out the previous thread if you want to argue- pretend you posted, and read the multitudes of responses to whenever that was posted- all 14 times.
• read the thread before posting, please. if you can't, at least read the last few pages to get a general sense of what's being argued and what's been brought up.

Could you be any more ignorant? African Americans contributed a lot to this country, and you probably have no idea just how much.

-Dr. Charles Richard Drew, a black man, pioneered the idea of a blood bank.
-George Washington Carver, another black man, came up with over 200 uses for the peanut, including a rubber substitute, adhesives, foodstuffs, dyes, pigments, and many other products.
-George Crum, a Native American/African American chef, invented the potato chip.
-Clatonia Joaquin Dorticus invented shoe dye and a device that quickened the development of photographs, among other things.
-Philip B. Downing invented the mailbox as we know it today.
-Garrett Morgan invented the gas mask and the traffic signal.
-Sarah Goode invented the folding cabinet bed and was the first black woman to receive an inventor's patent.
-Lewis Latimer worked on Thomas Edison's research team and improved Edison's lightbulb by inventing the carbon filament.
-Elijah McCoy was a mechanical engineer and inventor. McCoy's high-quality industrial inventions (especially his steam engine lubricator) were the basis for the expression "the real McCoy," meaning the real, authentic, or high-quality thing.
-Norbert Rillieux invented a sugar evaporator that not only made sugar processing faster, it created a superior sugar.
-Madame C.J. Walker invented dozens of hair products that are still used today; most famous for her hot comb.
-Augustus Jackson invented ice cream.
-Lloyd Augustus Hall is responsible for the meat-curing products, seasonings, and antioxidants that keep our food fresh and edible.

I NEVER said that blacks havent made any contributions to society... they definately have. What I meant was... open up your Science book, and look at who came up with pretty much all the theorems, inventions ect, Europeans.

I could go on for hours, but there's a small idea of how wrong you are.

And in addition, there is a BIG difference between "whites/Europeans" and "Americans." NATIVE Americans were here long before the Europeans slaughtered them, raped them, and stole their land, hence the "native" part.

Well obviously. We as american citizens, ARE AMERICANS. Yeah, obviously there's a big difference between being an American and being a Native American. No one ever said that didnt happen. Its a shame that it did. But did you know slaves from Africa were sold into slavery by their own people? So that's no worse.

In response to the original post, I do think that other races should have an appreciation month (or at least something similar) as well as African-Americans.
