I think not. stanley, i do not see i source.

you can't bring about a source. because every source says otherwise.

since you made the claims, get the source. afterwards, i'll show you my source (which i had NO trouble finding) that shows that homosexuality lies at least partially in genes.

also, i never claimed that they were born with it, did i? no, i didn't. so why are you trying to counteract my argument with that? cause i never said that.

i said it's hormones, not genes. i don't believe people are born either straight nor gay. it is just the way they are, it's uncontrollable, but it doesn't happen when they're born..i don't believe it's a gene either. it's hormones that develop as you go through puberty. read through my previous explanation for that.

ugh, guys, we're going around in circles. we've established that there is currently no distinct, concrete evidence as to whether homosexuality is an inherent trait.

Wow...what a debate. I believe that marriage is between two people who love and care for each other enough to spend the rest of their lives together. If these two people are black, white, asian, hispanic, straight, gay, whatever, it shouldn't matter. True love is a miracle that happens once in a lifetime--if you're lucky. Everyone should be able to celebrate that miracle and live their lives with the person that loves them. No matter what your religious or political background, you have to agree with love!

you say 'what a debate,' which sort of implies that you've read the rest of the thread... and yet, it's clear that you haven't.

Yeah -- let gays marry, whatever.

And when 10 people love each other so much that they just can't break it down into groups of two, let them marry, too.

Give them all the benefits of the traditional married couple, also! Yeah! Let 150-member orgy polygamy unions reap the benefits of good old fashioned matrimony.

And, while we're at it, let's allow people to marry their dogs, hampsters, parrots, and wildebeasts if they'd like, as well. Interspecies marriages, that'll give us real freedoms!

or we could just get rid of the discrimination against same sex couples.

then they wouldn't have to have a marriage to get thier rights, then would they?

Actually, married couples have rights to housing opportunities, etc. that even normal citizens don't have, gay or not.

That's why often times straight couples get married in order to finance a home.

exactly. if married couples didn't get benifits, then there would be no problem with denying same-sex couples marraige.

'you don't agree' is not suffiecent.

provide some support to your opinion please.
prove that marriage should be only between a man and a woman.

Another thing I don't understand is why it's such a big deal now...

Gays have lived happily without marraige for thousands of years, what's the beef today?

By being gay are they beheading American soldiers? Is the earth going to stop its rotation and fall into the frozen depths of the universe just because these gay decapitators are married? I think not.

The same people that have ignorant and misguided views about homosexuals are the same people that (in some way or another) have issues regarding racism. They're also the same people that probably still believe that a woman 'needs to be put in her place' from time to time.

I'm not one of these people and as much as I don't find homosexuality to be remotely appealing, I'm not going to treat someone with a different sexual preference like any less than a human being. So what they're gay? Why should that matter? Let 'em get married.

Well I don't agree with homosexuals getting married but that's basically due to my religion and my own morals. However, I don't agree with what you said about how those people have issues regarding racism and believe a woman needs to be put in her place. I am 100% against racism and think it's clearly wrong and I don't think that a woman needs to be put in her place either. I think that is generalizing too far.

A Ha! From your obvious enlightenment, you don't have 'ignorant & misguided' views on it so of course you don't fit into the generalization. Your views are, like you said 'religion and morals.' But I stand firm to the statement because I've heard 'fag' come out of the same mouths I hear 'spic, nigger, wetback, bitch, etc.'

My family is southern baptist and it was a huge reality backhand when my uncle (after being married) chose a different preference. There was a time when I borderline homophobic because of Sunday School lessons. That time for me has passed due to tolerance and acceptance.

If a marriage and a civil union are the same thing but by a different name, why is it such an issue to allow 'Gay Marriage?'

My question still hasn't been answered. Marriages have been around for milleniums. Gays have been around for milleniums.

I've done an hour's worth of research, and I can't find one gay marriage protest worth mentioning on record for 2000 years up until the recent ones, of course.

Are we just running out of things to fuss about?

no, people are just becoming more accepting and liberal than before. in earlier times, it was outrageous to go against the common belief. nowadays, people are becoming more open about things different than the majority. therefore, more people want more rights for their differences.

gay people are realizing that the world as a whole is becoming more tolerant, and therefore are starting to realize that they are beoing denied their rights
