Poe lived a tortured live, honestly. As Blackveil6 said, John Allan treated Edgar horribly. He sent him to a wonderful college, but due to debts (which were John's fault really) he refused to continue to pay for his education. Even after John and Edgar kind of made up, John left him out of his will. John mocked him and never treated him like family, and that is an understatement. Edgar lost many women he loved due to Tuberculosis, even his young wife Virginia (Sissy). He sat by her bedside every night, while she suffered, just to see if she would live to see the next morning. Every night, he expected her to pass on. She eventually did, of course.
I feel strongly for the man who created the mystery genre. He was a troubled soul, but not without reason. I feel horrible that he died so young, and under such mysterious circumstances. I can only dream of how many more masterpieces he could have penned had he not met such a tragic end to a tragic life.
His mother left him and has dad died and the dad last words to Edgar was "I enjoyed to see you suffer"He is not emo.Emo people are the ones who think life sux when there life is preety normal.
