Click on thumbnailed images to enlarge
Open up a background that you want to blend a picture on.
Next, go to LAYERS>DUPLICATE as shown below.
Ok set your background aside for a minute (minamize) and open up a picture you want to blend onto the background or you can use mine.
Next, you need to CUT>COPY the picture. I'll show you how to cut. Go to the main GIMP window and the tool. [like below]
Ok so once you have your picture cut out, go to the top of your pictures window and click EDIT>COPY.
Bring your backgrounds window up again and paste the picture onto the background. You can move it around or whatever you like. Now, it is okay that the picture is a bit big.[example]
Next go find the lasso tool :
[example]
You want to outline the area you are going to leave on the background. As you can see it doesn't have to be a perfect circle.
Next, go to SELECT>FEATHER. Set the options to whatever you want. I set mine to 25.
[examples]
Feathering options:
Next go to SELECT>INVERT or you can just press CTR+I. After you do that press CTRL+K. You can experiment how much you want to clear the image but I just made the pictures backgorund outline disappear.
