I was surprised the "spikes" tutorial wasn`t in here. So I decided to teach people how to make them, especially for those who don`t have the spikes brushes. First open a new document (Ctrl + N) I`m going to use 500x500 It doesn`t really matter, you can use whichever numbers you want, but don`t make it too small.
1.
2. Click the Polygon Lasso tool (L) and at the top, make sure to click the first one.<br>
3. Click anywhere outside of the 500x500 (or whichever size yours is) document.
4. From the start, continue until you make a spike and finish at where you started. (I know that`s confusing but I can`t explain it any easier, just follow the pics I`m showing you xD)
5. Now get your paintbrush button (B) and with ANY brush you want, color it in.
6. Now get the Polygon Lasso tool once again, and on top, redraw another spike.(You don`t have to but it`ll look better because the first spike is sort of like a shadow) After that, repeat step 5 (except with a darker shade of color)
7. There! Now get the magic wand tool (W)
8. Click ON the spikes you just made.
9. Now jump to image ready.
10. Now you`re done! ^^;*
This is how mine turned out.
