Tutorial
Click on thumbnailed images to enlarge
This is very easy. Just follow the steps and you'll do fine.
Get an image and I suggest you using a small image. Not something huge.
I'll be using this.
You can crop it into an avatar size if you want. I did to make it easier.
Click the magnifying glass then click 6px. It should've zoomed in.
Then click the star tool. It should be on top of the eraser and first on the list.
Start on the top left corner (not too close to the border) and zig zag your way around the avatar.
Here's how it should look like;
click for full preview
After that, there should be a box around the zig-zags without the zig-zags showing. You right click and press copy.
Open another paint window.
Start>>All Programs>>Accessories>>Paint.
In the new window, paste your image down. If you're not satisfied, you can repeat those steps above and paste it again.
Once you are happy with your torn border, do whatever you want with it.
Go crazy.
Use this tutorial to make the white transparent (Start reading from #5).
And here is my finished product.
---------
*If you want to make a another colored border outside of the torn-border, continue reading.*
1) Click the pencil tool.
2) Pick a color - this will be the color of the outside border.
3) Click the magnifying glass and then 6px.
4) One pixel by one, you trace the border.
It's as simple as that. I picked a noticeable color - blue.

After:

You can tell the difference and what I mean by outlining it.

Here's one more cause I felt bored. ;] Feel free to post up yours when you're finished.
