Torn Borders
BTW, I used Adobe Photoshop CS2.
1. First, open the picture you want the border to go around.
I opened a picture I took at Clearwater, FL
2. Click on the channel's pallet > click on "Create new channel" on
the bottom right corner.
3. Next, your picture should turn all black. And if you look on you're
Channel's Pallet, an Alpha 1 layer was added. You want to stay on this layer for
now.
4. Now, click on your Rectangular Marquee Tool > make a selection
around the black picture.
5. Then when you have you're selection selected, go to Select >
Inverse
6. Now, change your Foreground color to white and go to Edit > Fill.
And make sure you have the same settings.
Click OK.
7. You should get a white border where your selection was at.
Go to Select > Deselect
8. Go to Filter > Filter Gallery
A new window with different filters are shown. The one we
want is Torn edges.
Click on the Sketch > Torn Edges >
And apply the same settings and click OK
9. Next, click on the button where it says "new effect layer" that
should give you a new filter layer on top of the one you just made.
10. On the new effect layer we just made, click on Texture > Grain
And apply these settings and click OK
You should get something like this so far on you're image:
11. Now, make a new effect layer again. Then, click and drag the new
layer you just made and move it to the middle (between Torn Edges and Grain)
Next, click on Brush Strokes > Angled Strokes
Apply these settings and click OK.
You should get something like this:
12. You should be out of the Filter Gallery now. If so, on your
Channel's Pallet. Click on your RGB layer. That should of brought your original
picture back
13. Now, go to Select > Load Selection > click OK
14. You should have these marquees around your picture.
15. Then, set you're foreground color to which ever color you want the
border to be.
16. Go to, Edit > Fill
And make sure you have these settings
17. Go to, Select > Deselect.
And TA-DA! You're finish!!!!!
You should have ended with a picture like this:
Play around with it. You'll be surprise!
