Look carefully for specific instructions
Basically, the favicon is the small 16x16 icon that you see in your browser's url box. All we're doing is adding one line of code in the header, linking in a different 16x16 image, of your choice. This image can be an ico, jpg, gif, png, or bmp.

I should have made the howto a bit less vague. Basically.. if your 16x16 image is a gif.. change the type="image/png" to gif.. etc etc.
