**If you have any trouble, please comment what you don't understand. Don't just blatantly say something like "I DON'T GET IT!!" Please, it'll save us all some time. :)

PLEASE, this tutorial is for people that know how to use photoshop. Knowledge of the pen tool is required, and knowledge of using layer styles, filters is greatly required.

We're making these :)

(This version is additional, if you want this, continue to read on all the way, until you reach the end.

(Original)

1. Open up a really big canvas. Your choice, depends on what you want. I'm opening a 1000x1000 pixel canvas.

**These are my pen tool settings.

2. Now, click the pen tool, and made a curved line like this.

Now, click on your brushes. Choose a 35px soft brush.

Now, go back to the curved path you made, right click it, and choose "Stroke Path"

MAKE SURE YOU HAVE STIMULATE PRESSURE CHECKED ON!!

If your strokes are not stimulating. Click Window at the top, and click on brushes. Make sure you have these settings!

You should have something like this now.
**Don't delete your path, we're not done using it just jet!

3. Now, LEAVE YOU PATH ALONE. Create a new layer. Now, TAKE THAT SAME PATH, and just move it down a bit, so it looks like this. Play around with the curve, so that it sorta intertwines like this.

Go ahead, and stroke that path with the same 35px soft brush. You should now have TWO black lines.

4. Now, click on your first layer. (The one with the first stroke) Go to Filter>Blur>Radial Blur. You should have your settings like this.

(You should have some blurry grainy like swirl now)

5. Go back to the second layer you made. Do the same thing, Filter>Blur>Radial Blur. Except, this time, use these settings.
.

This is what you should have now.

Now. Delete your path. CREATE A NEW LAYER. Now, use the pen tool again, and make a path similar to this. (Or whatever you like) This time, use a 27px soft brush for the stroke. Make another stroke. Now, you should have three black stroked lines.

Now, again, go to Filer>Blur>Radial Blur. This time, set the amount to 20.

This should be your current image.

(This is optional, I just think I looks prettier :D)
6. Now, create a new layer. Fill the layer with this color, 362f2d, and set it to LIGHTEN.

7. Now, CREATE A NEW LAYER, and set that layer to LIGHTEN, or SCREEN. Now, take a 150 - 300 px soft brush, and start brushing on random circles of color. I used dark pink, yellow, and red. (Just cause they match.)

This is sorta what your image should look like now :)

8. Now, create a new layer. Fill the layer with any color, it doesn't matter. Go to Filter>Noise>Add noise. Your settings should be like this.

Now, go to FILTER>BLUR>RADIAL BLUR. Set it to Zoom, and set the amount to 100.

Now, set the layer style to Color Burn and opacity to 30%.

You should have something like this now.

We're almost done, last step!

9. Now, create a new layer. On that same layer, press CTRL + ALT + SHIFT + E. This will create a flattened layer. (Nothing should have changed, everything should still appear the same)

Now, on that same layer. Go to Filter>Stylize>Glowing Edges. This should be your settings.

Everything should appear black, with rainbowish-squiggly lines.

Now, set that layer to Color Dodge.
Duplicate this layer, to create an even stronger electric effect. Done?

Now, this last part is optional. You can use the textures I used.

Just paste this ontop of all the layers, and set it to lighten.

Done!

Nice tutorial. I followed it successfully through to step 9. And learnt a few new things along the way. However ( using PSCS4 ) it would not let me select glowing edges. ( this option was greyed out )

I tried changing the setting, but "Smoothing" is locked. I'm a beginner at Photoshop, how do you unlock it? LOL.

To be honest, I really don't get how the pen tool works xD I think it'd be great if you explained how it works.

With everyone who is confused with the pressure, you have to change pressure options in your preferences. those options are usually in use with a tablet, if you dont have one i would suggest a laser mouse, not optical.
