As I was going through my music today, I realized I had about 50million songs about Caliornia, so I decided to make them into a playlist. (It was particuarly interesting, too, since I've never been anywhere near California and honestly don't have an interest in that culture, either). Well, as it turns out, I only had 7, but still, that's something a lot. To make this a decent length, anyone have any recommendations of songs about California I should add?

So far I have:
& The Decemberists- Los Angeles, I'm Yours
& The Arctic Monkeys- Fake Tales of San Fransisco
& Kings of Leon- California Waiting
& Rogue Wave- California
& Low- California
& Phantom Planet- California 2005*
& Excuses for Skipping- California

(um...I have no idea if there's a difference between "California" and "California 2005" by Phantom Planet. Some OC enthuseist fill me in, seeing as I hate it passionately and am really not too sure why I even have Phantom Planet on there to begin with?)

Eh, the first songs that I thought of were "Back to California"- Sugarcult and "Back Home"- Yellowcard, but I don't know if they're the kind of music you like...

I searched the word California in my media list and I got:

The Ramones - California Sun
The Dead Kennedys - California Uber Alles

An another note: I was glad I didn't find that many songs.

That's because California's just...awesome. I mean, honestly, what're you going to sing about when it comes to a state such as Pennsylvania? "Oh, Pennsylvania. Your vast amount of forests make me happy inside. By the rules of Ben Franklin I shall abide!" I know, that was lame.

I have most of those songs as well, except The Artic Monkeys. In addition I have "California" by Hawk Nelson. Yep.

How can I not have a song by a band named The Arctic Monkeys? I'm seriously lacking these days. *downloads*

The Arctic Monkeys are probably my favorite among those (I love the Deemberists, but that's not the greatest song). I recommend thumbsup.gif

i didnt say you were. i just said how i view them

and i didnt say they were bad at what they do, just that they weren't as deserving of the praise they get. what YOU said, was that the people you were talking aboutwere bad musicians. not the same thing

But I didn't say they were bad musicians, so it is the same. I said the music was bad. You said they're ovrrated. Which is essentially the same thing.

NO NICKI.

YOU SAID, AND I QUOTE (again)

QUOTE
Damn lot of Thoreaus and Emersons. There's more to quote than transindantlists and bad musicians. Though the transindentalists certainly get a damn lot more credit in my book

WELL YOU'RE STILL SAYING THE SAME THING

plus, you're saying they're "good at what they do." fine. good at what they do. but not the music, necessarily. plenty of entertainers under the guise of musicians who are perfectly good at that they do, entertaining, but as musicians suck

no, nicki. im not saying the same thing.

im saying, 'i dont like the arctic monkeys as much as everyone else does, but obivously there must be something to them if so many people like them'

*sigh*

your logic is twisted.

but,you know.... imnot having this discussion again. there is nothing to say

k i LOVE the O.C., so it's like... a remix. california sounds completely different from california 2005. it's like saying confessions and confessions pt 2 are the same song (sorry, randomly got some usher there), but they're not... huh.gif
