hello kids. just a quick question. when you have a picture of a friend and yourself, what do you caption it as?
"my friend and i at the picnic" or "my friend and me at the picnic" and which one is correct? i thought it was "and me" but it seems as if so many people use "and i" ...right. grammar nazis, help? edit: Yes, i know that it's "my friend and I" when you're writing a sentence. But i'm talking about picture captions. is it still the same? I'M NOT TALKING ABOUT SENTENCES, I'M TALKING ABOUT PICTURE CAPTIONS |

A caption is still a sentence/phrase right? So it still counts.
It's: My friend and I. Otherwise... it'd be.. Friend and me. ^^^ "Friend" being a proper noun. When there's a modifier in front of the subject, there should be an 'I'. Or so I think... It's been awhile since I thought about it... It might be the other way around. Someone correct me if you have to. |

I usually say "Me and my friend." But the proper way would be to say "My friend and I"..I guess.

So for a caption like that you would you My friend and me at the picnic... |

QUOTE(D1SMANTLED @ Jul 29 2005, 6:13 PM) Me at the picnic = My friend and me at the picnic You would use "me" in both cases. (for captions) So wait--so am I right in the end? It would be "Susan and me" for a caption and not "Susan and I" ? |

i always say me and my friend. if you say "my friend and me", then you're grammatically incorrect. you have to say "my friend and I".

Well, technically, both of them are incorrect since none of those are sentences.
But I think the correct one is "my friend and me at the picnic." my friend and me at the picnic/me at the picnic my friend and I at the picnic/I at the picnic I at the picnic doesn't sound right, now does it? |

hm, a lot of you don't seem to get what i'm asking. sorry for not making it clear. I'M TALKING ABOUT PICTURE CAPTIONS, NOT REGULAR SENTENCES.
i hope everybody knows it's "my friend and i went to the picnic." but thats not what i'm asking. |
