biggrin.gif biggrin.gif HP I like witchcraft, and the things they did with it. LOTR was just to heavy for me too much fighting so dark and sad.

Yeah, there's really no comparison between the two. They are both wonderful literary works. I enjoy all things fantasy and as such I can't choose between them. I can see how HP can appeal to the younger readers since it's a MUCH easier read than LOTR. LOTR is a world in itself and can be tedious at times. HP sways around the life of us one main character so it's a lot easier to keep track of.

I love both Series, but Harry Potter is much better book wise, it took me forever to read the LOTR triology, and the hobbit geez... to much info I didnt want. And the Hp series I could read in one day... As for the movies, I love the LOTR films lots of action and great story my type of thing, but I loved HP first so meh.. LOL

its hard becuz they're both so different from each other. Really, they are hardly alike. The wizards in LOTR rarely use magic, and its set in a different time zone/dimension. Harry Potter was written very well and a page turner, but its a completely different style than LOTR.

personally, I like Lord of the Rings better. but I still like HP a lot.

I dont think aznxdreamer was saying there wasnt an evil wizard in LOTR
but they were just replying to the person who said HP was easier to relate to or w/e happy.gif

I fell asleep in the Lord of the Rings, so definitely Harry Potter. I just find it more interesting. I also read the HP books, so that might be another factor of why I like it a lot better.

Harry Potter the Movies are Boring and Kiddie like to me, with mediocre special effects, compared to other top grossing films. its an okay movie the books are better. personally i dont think harry potter and lord of the rings movie wise are really in the same league... maybe HP and Narnia....naw Narnia was still Better. i mean while watching Goblet of Fire at the end i was like "thats it?" i mean the tournaments were weaaak. none of the action in HP is anything compared to the war battles in LOTR in my opinion.

bookwise i get a bit bored reading LOTR, but when it gets to the climax it gets interesting. im more interested while reading HP, but maybe its because its more current...

overall LOTR the movies is better quality, much Deeper, and just a better movie, with better actors ( I.E. 16 Oscars means something)
and HP is more geared to appeal to a younger audience, and very light and giddy, and at some times tries to be "dark" but if you like light films with little depth then there ya go.

bookwise harry potter is more....understandable, you understand whats going on more, and the word choice is simpler in the book. because its more current. so you feel less bored. LOTR is more advanced

but thats just my opinion.

At first I really wasnt into the films. I watched the Fellowship of the rings, and barely got through it. But I went back and read the books first, which I also barely go through to many details for my taste... but than I watched the films once more and really enjoyed them. But Harry Potter books and films are still my favorites, the books are very great well written and captivate me. The surely keep me awake and guessing, and the films though more geared towards a younger audience I still love them find them adorable, and funny. But yea they are both great series in themselves.
