lotr all the wayy! more complex, thorough, adventurous and epic! harry potter is good, but you cannot match it with Lord of the Rings. you just can't.

LOTR books are boring, but very well written, it`s a classic
the movies are deep and interesting HP books are fascinating and interesting yet minimal the movies aren`t nearly as good as the books i love both, though :] |

its a wierd comparison... a kid movie compared to an oscar sweeper
its like comparing the color purple to the color of friendship  (if you guys know what that is) bookwise: lotr is a higher reading level too lol. keep in mind lotr was really old, written by an old man, so its not gonna appeal to some peole as much that dont like all the early 19th/ late 18th century language. |

well, if i had to choose, id go with harry potter. but i absolutely love lord of the rings. its just so...well written, its classic literature. harry potter, well.. i was 11 when it came out...ive grown up with it...its been a huge part of my life. lotr just doesnt do that for me.

Harry Potter all the way!!! I love the books! They're so interesting! The movies rock too!!! But LotR...I always fall asleep during the movies...and the books...I just can't read those things...ehhh

For the books: I couldn't get into Lord of the Rings no matter how hard I tried. Whereas with Harry Potter, I sat down with the first book and couldn't put it down. So, definitely Harry Potter in regards to the book.
The movies: Lord of the Rings hands down. It was beautifully filmed. But then again... HP and the PoA was really good cinematography. And GoF looks amazing so far. My opinion might change. |

I would say Harry Potter, only because that was easier for me to get into and like than Lord of the Rings. I've tried reading the books and watching the movies and I just couldn't get into the storyline. I'm a Harry Potter fan all the way :)
