How long do Chuck Taylor's last until they are all tattered and torn and dirty. I bought a pair which has a main color of black and I'm curious how long will they look good. My mom never let me buy Chuck Taylors before because she read that they cause ankle injurys when running (wtf??). My friends say it will last about 2 years and others say that they last until you outgrown them. Also, what ways can them clean?

Erm, I've had mine for about 2 yrs. [not too long]
But yea, they've withstood my beatings LOL.
I've worn them so long that they even faded from black to maroonish.
I stopped wearing them about 3-5 months ago tho.

It's somewhat true--they don't give amazing ankle support. But it's not like there's been a rash of ankle injuries attributable to wearing Chucks.

Chuck Taylors arent' running shoes, and they don't have much support. Also, they can scratch up your skin, and give you friction burn if you're wearing short socks. That's probably why your mom thought they can cause ankle injuries when you run. Just don't wear them for running. They last pretty long though, depending how you wear them. I'd say at least 2 years/

Chucks don't give you any support around your heel or ankle, so yeah...you probably would get an injury from running in them.

Usually mine last around...2-ish years? They get really ratty. I know that some people like that look, but anything like that turns me off.

Hmm I think they'll last about 2 years........I wouldn't advise wearing them in the rain...T___T god...that just sucked...and..well they weren't really meant to be..foot support. Uhh I can't remember when they were first made..80's ish...but they were cheap (no padding) and they came in an assortment of colors so people loved them. As you can see they are making a big comeback.

They were made first in the 1910s as basketball shoes. Until the 1960s, they were only available in black, but then they were made in various colors to complement basketball uniforms.

My first pair I only had for 2 years and they were in good condition until my dog ripped them apart.
So I have a brand new pair I had for little over a year. They're still good though.

I had my very first pair when I was three years old, and they are still 'alive.' However, I grew out of them when I was about five years old or so, but little kids can be brutal. :P
My latest pairs have lasted for a few years or so, but they're still kind of going. They haven't ripped or anything yet.

So, overall, Chucks last a decent amount of time.
