O_o...isn't that just paranoia?
*

hm...

paranoia is when you are so afraid, that you have panic attacks, hyperventilating, etc etc...

schizophrenia seems to always relate to hallucinations...

and ocd... ocd is just a pain in the butt.

a very very very big pain.

it's like you have to obey these rituals *shiver*
I've once been through a case study where the patient was only 5 when he was diognised... and he would have these rituals that his mind kept on telling him to do and if he didn't do them, "all hell would break loose". I guess that could be one way to put it.

I really wouldn't consider wiping your mouth consistently after a meal a disorder...
but hey, who could determine 'sane' and 'insane' anyways.

edit___

gosh i just read through the entire thread. William and the hiphop junkie...
I don't know what to say... is my post too insensitive? _unsure.gif

I can't type createblog.com. It has to be createBlog.com. Same goes with the chat name: createBlog Chat.

Ahhh, same here.

I get all weird even if I see someone else type it in all lowercase letters, or with just the 'c' capitalized.

working at the hospital has made me have this crazy urge to wash my hands twice at once. It just doesn't feel clean the first washing. There was a local celebrity's daughter here who has OCD and she had to do everything 42 times. Anybody who has read Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy should be smiling right about now.

I'm not sure if this is OCD...but everytime i hit one my foot or something, i HAVE to do it with the other one, with the same ummm.. force?

Then also if I'm brushing my hair, sometimes i feel like i have to brush my hair in a certain section at a certain time. If i dont i feel so weird.

Then with my locker at school, I always think i didnt lock it so i always have to go back and check.

Yeah the first two are signs of mild OCD, I wouldn't worry about it much if it was me.

OCD isn't something to worry about until it starts majorly messing with your life or mind. Like say if she (quoted above) had the thing with her hair brushing and if she didn't do it she'd have nerve problems or breakdowns until she did it right - then its time to see the doctor. OCD can be something as common has having to wash your hands a lot to something as odd as having to tap your foot at the same force as the other one. There's a Orson Scott Card novel from his Ender's Game series where there was an entire land ruled by people with OCD because they thought they had been given God-given skills and tasks, like the girl in the story who was left in a room with dirty hands and she did as far as scraping her hands raw against the wall to get them clean and eventually followed wood grain patterns across the room to calm down. If she even had a shadow of a doubt in her mind that she had not followed the grain path correctly she'd go back to the very beginning and start over. Thats major OCD.

Things like having the volume at a certain level I'd consider just comfort zones. Something like checking your alarm a lot before you sleep might be anxiety or paranoia or a simple lack of trust in your enviroment. Someone mentioned schizophrenia for some reason in an early post. Effects of schizophrenia could be anything from seeing lines or dots (what my aunt calls Tracers) in the corner of your eye to seeing people and false rooms (think A Beautiful Mind).

But hey, I'm not a doctor. I just have a few relatives with mental problems. If you think you need to see a doctor then talk to your parents and more power to you.

I'm a bit compulsive when it comes to washing hands, rearranging, keeping things in order. I see nothing wrong with keeping things clean it sure beats being a messy slob.

I just read that and thought, "Yea that could be OCD or perfectionism...or that person is just orderly"

when I see to many stuff out of place in my room or in the desk I'm using, I just start cleaning... I'm a freak

also, I check people's mouths to see if they got food somewhere, and I tell them to wipe it clean if they got something... they get uncomfortable afterwards mad.gif

also, I always move stuff around until they look perfect, like I can't leave a thing looking diagonally, I just fix it. (Makes sense to me).

also, I can't use a dirty dish... even if it's just a little spot, I just put it back on the sink and curse the person who washed it rolleyes.gif
if a dish smells bad or something, I don't use it either...

I think that's it.

Yes, I know what people are describing here aren't symptoms of real OCD, but calm down, you people who are overworked up about this. hammer.gif I don't think anyone here is trying to be offensive.

I obsessively put on lipgloss, but that's just vain. I also have this thing where my desk has to look perfect, and if one thing is out of place I go crazy.

I have a pattern complex. Or something like that. I arrange everything into patterns. It has to be in patterns. The guys at Border's are scared of me, because they'll be working and I'll start rearranging all the book, because they're not alphabetical or in the wrong numerical order or something like that. The Librarian finally stopped telling me not to rearrange things, because I do it so often...
Oh, and I hear vioces in my head. I hold conversations with them sometimes.
