What kind of gas you use for your car?
I use premium since my car is a premium only...and while we're at that subject, I ran into a LITTLE problem >_<: I accidentally put regular in my premium-only ML-320...half a tank of it. First time I ever did it...and wondering if it's alright? or is this gonna f#%* up my car? I was groggy man, no flaming ![]() oh yea...about knock sensors, i'm not sure if my car has it because i bought it off of eBay, and I have NO idea when it comes to cars, sorry folks. I'm hoping its alright since its just first time...? do I have to drain out all of the unleaded or w/e or can i just go back and put premium when I'm low on the regular? help :P |

Im pretty sure your car has a knock sensor, i think all cars do, i have to look more into it.
But its fine if you do put 87 in a 91 car once, because we did it once in our lexus and nothing happen to it. but make sure you dont drive it hard. The reason while you need 91 its how your engine is bulit with low compression or high compression, stuff like that, the internals |

i use regular. the higher octane is only really needed on acceleration, and the additives only needed for older cars.
my dad put like... 10 seconds of premium into the car and i could feel the engine had lost some power. (not pyscological- he didn't tell me he did that untill after i complained about it being sluggish. ) |

My car is a 91+ octane engine because its a Premium V8 (Cadillac Northstar). I use straight 93 all the time. So did the previous owner for the last 8 years they owned it.
And Acid is right, its really only needed for acceleration. Octane is not a rating of how much power the gasoline has, it is it's Anti-knock index. The higher the octane, the more resistance to knock it has. If you put 87 in my car, the knock sensors kick in and throw back the timing a few degrees, making the car less powerful from a start, where I need power the most. Not something you want to do with a 4000lb car with an 8 cylinder. |

If you're too worried, just add some octane booster into your gas tank... not quite sure what that'll do since I never tried/plan to do.

but what im wondering is...if your car doesnt have knock-sensors, will it damage your car permanently if you put regular in a premium-only car? (assuming this is only done once)..
im somewhat reassured by SuPerSoPow1025's statement, but not quite sure just yet... |
