I'm getting sick and tired of all this coverage over missing young white people/women. You never see any other race getting this much coverage. RIght now that chick that went missing in the tropics or something is getting a crap load.

Don't you guys ever notice that, they're all white. Also, how the news is very biased. I googled some articles about it from nbc and stuff...it's so unfair

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/4669495/

white people = ratings..

what do you guys think

I think it's just a coincidence that they're white. I really don't think race matters...=/ Er, I don't know.

Coincidence, nope because if they only cared about finding these people, then there'd be thousands of coverages over missing people. They single out young white people. There were 29,000 missing people last year, all smelled of foul play. You think they only chose 6 whites out of those 29,000 randomly.

This is off-topic, I know...but that runaway bride lives near me. A couple of my friends know her.

Where I live, they show a lot of people that are missing on the news ( Not only white people...other races, too). The ones that end up being federal cases ...well, most of the are white. =/ Er...I still don't know. Maybe that people that end up getting those huge missing coverages are the ones where people are willing to put up a lot of money for it.

Well, that's cool how your town does that and stuff. But on a nationwide scale it's pretty effing biased. It pisses me off because we're suppose to equal and what not.

actually, not long ago they did a whole news story on this. if the media had to choose between a missing white person or a missing black person theyd do the story on the white person

But then again, do you think they can really show all 26,000 missing people? But yeah, it's pretty unfair that more missing white people are shown on the news.

you're a dumbass. i agree with one thing... that if they're going to go all crazy with the missing person reports (when they're missing in the US)... then they should do one FOR EACH AND EVERY PERSON THAT HAS BEEN ABDUCTED. but anyway, three little boys went missing in NJ and THEY don't look white and I saw it on CNN and on Fox News... So, please, shut up... maybe you should watch MORE of the news...
Natalee Holloway is/was American.... she goes to another country and vanishes... the FBI are involved... are you f**king stupid? OF COURSE the media is going to go crazy with it...

If you don't want the big headline news and you're complaining... then go read a god damn newspaper.

right, i'm a dumbass, that's nice -BIOTCH. That's nice those three little boys got coverage, but i didnt hear it on my local station, because if it were that big it'd be in newspapers, local t.v statiosn eveywhere. You think Americans dont go missing when they goto other countries all the time? You think she's the only american in the past 10 years that has gone missing and needed to have this much coverage. And, please dont tell me what to do, cuz you're just being a lil female dog about it.

No, I agree with Mel.

Anyway. Julia (jooleeah) and I are both from the same area, and they don't just show missing white people, they show just about everyone. I think it's just a coincidence.

Local news doesnt count; it has to be on a nationwide scale, in newspapers, t.v talk shows, news stations across the effin country.

Hmm.. now that you mention it, most of the major ones have been white, but I doubt the amount of attention they get is because they're white. They usually have a more dramatic story on why they're missing, which probably draws people to the story.

Shouldn't this go in debate?

lol, i never intended it for to be a debate. I just wanted some of your views. Yeah, it's true there is some twisted story, but i bet other races have their share of soap operaish missing tales; just no1 pursues it enough to find it.

The guy in the article was a USC medical student, that called his dad the same night b4 he went missing; he just vanished. And, no1 but his local stations covered it for a coupe weeks-it never got national attention.

it's the fact that she's been missing for so long... it gets the ratings. The media wants to get the ratings, and that's what they're doing with Natalee Holloway. I don't care if you think I'm being a bitch. Hell, I know I'm being a bitch... you'll get over it. So what is that we have with the Natalee Holloway case?
Pretty attractive young girl...
18 years old...
just graduated high school
and was on senior trip...
Now... let's say someone who was really hideous was to go missing... no one wants to see an ugly face every 2 minutes. Sure, that may sound a bit mean... but it's true... Maybe the media is discriminating... but it's not because of nationality... it's because of appearance, maybe... if we were to say that. But you have to think about it... this is a LARGE scale search that's going on... It's not like she went missing on some hiking trip up a damn hill in Arkansas with her redneck cousins. Come on, now... seriously...

To the post above this one... I guess it depends on the strides the people who care about this person takes, right? You have to push for it... gain supporters... and hold onto faith.

So you're saying all ppl who go missing that arent white, are ugly? You think that people of other races didnt have their whole career ahead of them when they disappeared? Again i refer to that story of the missing black student, who had his whole lief aehad of him, and then poof vanished-never got any attention whatsoever besides from his local media.

The media is discriminating.
