i dont know if i can start contests but i wanna start havin a monthly colorization contest it doesn't matter if you don't actually colorize it [i.e. you cut & paste a grayscaled pic over tha original and erase] cuz i don't so here we go only rule is you MUST post your image(s) AND the original image so we can compare

That's not colorizing. That's desaturating and keeping some things color. That would be an 'alteration'

She's right. Colourizing is when you get a grayscale picture, open it up in photoshop and grab the lasso tool and start lasso-ing stuff and then colorizing it.

If you are too lazy, then, well, Do it anyways and then you might get some real critic's?

This would seem just like a mindless contest. Sorry dude but it makes no sense.

okay try to understand this this is a contest if you have "colorized" images or something that kind of looks similar to colorizing or something constructive to say then post it here but if your jus gonna bash a person that posted an image [like me] then dont i haven't seen you post anything

What I think they're saying is that, it wouldn't be fair to accept both when obviously, they're not the same thing.

Plus, it's harder to colourize. It just wouldn't be fair.

What type of contest you want It's called PHOTO MANIPULATION!
And i'm not BASHING a person because they posted an image. I'm simply saying that you have your definations mixed up.

And i have posted. this was going to be my entry for the photo manip contest that's already going on. http://www.createblog.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=86940. So yea I have posted.

ok no this isn't a photo manipulation contest if i wanted to start a photo manipulation contest i would've waited till the other one was over then start my own but this is a colorization contest with exceptions that i stated CLEARLY in my very first post but nobody is even posting anything so i guess it really doesnt matter

Well the "exception" to your colourization isn't even a true colourization, so why even call it that?

Either get rid of the exception or call it a different contest.

(And it's colourization with a u, at least for me.)

Aren't there 2 contests going on at present just in the digital art forum? One is a photomanip contest and the other a vector/vexel contest? I mean I don't have a problem with another contest being added, but it's gonna be hard to get people to do another contest when we're working on the other two right now and some people are like on vacations, etc.

Also some other things to think about:

1) I think the vexel/vector contest has like a reward and even though I cannot vexel/vector what so ever and am not entering, would there be like a thread where people would annouce who won for each month? Would they get like an award thingy they could put on their site? I just feel like people deserve to have some sort of like linkie picture where they can show what they did and why. There are some AWESOME people on the digital art thread that have really good colorizations (real ones) and they hardly ever get like *rewards* to show what they did. I just think a lot of people on this thread deserve credit somehow (not me....I don't care...My digital art is more photo manipulations PLUS colorizations). I want those people out there who love doing this though to have something other than just the ability to post a picture in a thread and four words saying: "USERNAME won the contest" [end of contest thread].

2) When are the deadlines for each month and when (what day)/how do we vote and who gets to vote? You have to say these things, do you not?

That was my two cents. Think about it and Plan before you post a contest. I hope that was not harsh because I was not trying to be.
