Alternating background colors for comments, Problems with alternating color code Options

I have inserted code into my xanga website on alternating background colours for my comments. The code has also made a background colour for my entry which I don't want and wondered if there was a way I could correct this in the code.

This is the code I use, could you please help me and see if there is anything wrong with it

If I remember correctly, comments are included in the same table as the entry. They have the same class aswell.... So no.

thankyou but I'll leave this topic open if anyone comes up with a better code for alternating comment backgrounds.
