punk. i really don`t understand how "emo" can be a music genre. ALL songs express emotion.

That's just...what it's labeled as. They focus on their emotions; therefore, it's emo. The majority of songs they sing involve love oppose to punk, which focuses on...government and political issues or rebelling against society. Hence, it's punk. Besides, there's a specific sound...

i think it's funny that people think emo is all soft and stuff. rites of spring is considered the first true emo band. listen to them and i doubt you will think it's a soft genre.

Along with Fugazi happy.gif.

I listen to both pretty equally.

emo doesn't have to be sad. it could be emotionally happy. im not sure what indie is but i would pick that.

...how can you claim to like a genre if you don't even know what it is?

I hope that the people saying that they like Punk actually know what "punk" is.

Same with Emo.

no. you make emo sound bad. mad.gif you seem to be describing good charlotte with the whole a-woah-oh stuff. i've never heard any emo music with that junk in it. stubborn.gif

indie + emo = cool.

QUOTE(alfskater @ Apr 16 2004, 10:55 PM)
I bet you have

Let's see ever heard songs by Dashboard?
Taking Back Sunday
and those other bands then yeah... You have I would name more bands but I just blanked off.
*

to me, dashboard isn't emo. anymore. it might have been before, but now it just seems to be alternative pop. taking back sunday.. fit in the emo genre more when they weren't so popular. i used to love them though.. those two bands are just really overplayed now. sad.gif
