I have 2 user logins on my computer. Both of them have passwords. My sister wanted on my computer but i wasnt here to sign on. So she had her boyfriend....big computer geek, hack onto my computer...i asked her how he did it but ofcourse "She dont remember". all she said was he went and did it on the black screen...i suppose the Command Prompt or Mdos what ever its called...is there a way i can stop that freak from doing that...now that he did it...my computer is weird..and everything is default or just differnt...Im So pissed off!

The only advice I can give you is to make a new user account for your sister (so that they wouldn't have a reason to hack it anymore) and tell your sister's boyfriend to fix it.

I don't think there's a way to actually block him from hacking it.

yeah

what elaine said,

what I meant by F8 was some people tap F8 in the beggining to go to a prompt screen which explains the ms dos command prompt then they choose Safe mode or whichever. then at the log on screen Adminstrator is an option where one can delete account , make accounts with out the masters consent so yeah just be aware

If you seriously don't want them on your computer, unplug and hide the power cord. And the mouse and keyboard too.

You can have anything Password. What I was saying if people use that method as I was explaining in the previous post. People can bypass your password wheter you have one or not.

If you dont want them in your room. then I think do the obvious lock your door. and have a key with you. or you can lock your bios and have it password protected but its a risky if you dont know how to do it.

Windows XP (and possibly 2000, and maybe later versions) come pre-installed with a default account called "Administrator" with a default password (or perhaps no password — again, I can't remember) that is hidden. This is a common backdoor for entry on such systems. You should make sure to disable that account or change the password.

Aside from that, there's some very simple ways around Windows authentication, especially if you have a Windows boot CD — or better yet, a Linux boot CD.

Too bad you don't have a case with a lock on the cover so you can't turn it on when the cover closed like mine. hehe.

anyways, window passwords are easy to get by if you know waht your doing. I've done a few password recovery for people for windows, not hard. You can try and find a parental program. Great to keep siblings away from pc.

Like someone already said, why not just take the power cord with you? Unless your sister has the same kind of computer, her power cord shouldnt be able to work on yours.

Or better yet, take that AND the cord that connects your computer to the monitor. That way if she has the same power cord, she wont be able to use the monitor.

[edit] Wow that was useless responding to... someone just bumped an old thread. xD

Everyone brings back an old thread at one point or another. I wasnt blaming you, I was blaming myself for reading and replying to a topic without even looking at the date. Sorry about that. _smile.gif
