I read the book, liked it lots. Saw the movie, just liked it. The cinemetography of the movie was beauitful, but the movie as a whole just didn't live up to the book.

i saw the movie before i read the book, and thought it was dull.
but when i read the book, i absolutely loved it.
i also realized how terrible of a job the movie had done, portraying the book.
and ... i don't plan to watch the film ever again.

Tony Jaa's second major film called "Tom-Yum-Goong" is being released in the U.S. as "The Protector". I think it's been out since last year but they're finally releasing it in the states on September 8th.

The trailer

The plot
QUOTE
His world shaped by ancient traditions, a young Thai fighter is called upon to defend his people and their honor after outsiders invade their home and destroy all that is sacred. Fueled by desire to protect a way of life and avenge the wrong done to his family, he will bring the fight to their city.

Even though it sounds like the story is the same as Ong Bak, the stunts look f**king awesome.

Oh man, this show is actually pretty darn good. I don't understand half of the things they say but the way they make it seem so realistic...

it's just so freaking good.

Okay, who's watched this movie more than 5 times and hasn't gotten sick of it?

Did you know... if you go to the screen right before the credit goes up, it's a flash of a porno? (Like the job Brad Pitt has... when he inserts porn in regular movies).

And, throughout the beginning, when you keep seeing flashes of a person... if you put it on still screen, that's Brad Pitt.

I'm in love with this movie.

*sighs*

Way overrated.
It's an alright flick, sure.
And, it's a way better effort than Se7en.
But, it's still nothing too special. huh.gif

I would say its more comical side shines more than any other element. It kind of slips around in trying to make a statement, ultimately falling on its ass. But, maybe it wanted to fall on its ass. In which case, why the hell would you want to fall on your ass?

I saw this movie for the first time last week and loved it. Granted for 10 minutes after, I was just like "Don't talk to me, I need to get my brain back together." Brad Pitt was damn sexy in this movie, as was Edward Norton, plus a bit of Jared Leto.

I noticed seeing Brad Pitt 5 times before Edward Norton meets Tyler but I didn't notice the porn flash. There are also a lot of hints throughout the movie; little things you wouldn't catch the first time.

I definitely agree. I've seen it a few times, thinking that I would get more out of it or something, but it never happened. Maybe if I didn't have sentiments like "it's the best move EVER!" and "it's such an amazing movie!" shoved down my throat I might have felt differently watching it. Who knows.

Never cared much for Se7en either. I did find Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels entertaining though.
