Bah...I'm waiting for the price to go down. If it ever does. I'll stick with games like FFXII, Guitar Hero 2 and such to keep me occupied and see how the PS3 does.

i dunno if the price would go down, but i am sure there might be some used ones that you could buy. sony is losing enough money as is but in my opinion i doubt it will go down. like the psp i saw 8 at my local game stop, i didnt think people would ever give that up but hey i gave mine up for a ds. so you never know someone could probably sell theirs.

The PS3 is actually a pretty good piece of machinery. Oh, not for a console -- it's way overpriced for a console. But for a Linux workstation? It's actually not too bad.

Yes, that's right -- if you're looking for a powerful Linux workstation, you're not going to find something much cheaper than the PS3. $600 is a lot for a console, but for a desktop computer running the Cell processor, $600 is a damn good price. You could even buy a few dozen and cluster them together.

Next time I'm in the market for a new computer, I'll definitely buy a PS3 -- not as a console, but as a machine to run Linux. It's not too bad at that task.

(Sure, you'd still have to obtain a keyboard, mouse, monitor, etc., but that shouldn't really be a problem.)

Fedora Core is a distribution of the Linux kernel that's very similar to Red Hat Enterprise Linux, sans the technical support contract (but really, who needs that? :-P ). I used to have a computer that ran Fedora Core (I've since sold it). It was a pretty solid distribution — Red Hat and Fedora are my favorite distros (probably because I feel most comfortable with them). It's cool that they have Fedora running on the PS3 already. (Gentoo runs on the PS3, too.) Hopefully other distros (Ubuntu, anyone?) will follow.

You're a moron.

That console is well worth over $600.. and if you add up the costs of XBOX360 compared to PS3, XBOX360 is more money for a crap system.

And Wii is a child's toy, not worth my time buying it and breaking my hand, or controller, or my tv screen.

By the way, PS3 doesn't freeze nor overheat... So much for Xbox360 being worthy.
