I have been debating on this topic with my friends for so long. I insist that deaf people can speak even they are born deaf because there's nothing wrong with their vocal cord so they should be able to speak. Please tell me what do you think!! Plzzzz~~~~

they CAN speak but they don't know how to because they were never taught. i mean, it's not like they can hear their parents talk when they are little kids and catch on.

This really isn't a debate. And stop spamming Paul!
Yes, the deaf can eventually learn to speak. I'm not sure if every one of them can. E.g. Helen Keller was one. |

Yes, you can still speak but like everyone else said - they aren't taught it.
By the way, there's a book that somehow sidefocuses on this subject: the book Dovey Coe. |

Yeah, they can still speak
Helen Keller spoke... it was just hard for people to understand her because she had never heard somebody talk... |

they cant hear waht they are saying so its just sounds to us because they dont know what sounds like what and if the maybe was deaf after they were born they could probably still speak

woah, i never thought of it this way. i always thought that someone that was born deaf always knew how to speak the way we do. but the fact that they never heard anyone speak totally slipped my mind. i guess that they can eventually learn to speak, but it would be difficult for them.

i dont think being deaf effects your voice and all. For a person to be deaf and not able to speak then they have to have something wrong with there ears and vocal cords.

sure they can speak if someone has the patience to teach them. unfortunately, they won't be able to understand the response.

They can but they wouldn't learn to talk right because they can't hear their voice.

they can speak, but they can't pronounce it that well because they can't hear the person say the word.

On most deaf people, it just depends. Some can learn to speak, some dont.

yes they can, but since theyre born deaf its hard for them to speak , well how should i put this. they speak like theyre special ed. the experience ive had at least, my good friends brother is deaf and when i first met him he said "she'll be back at 7" buh` it sounded weird cos he never learned how to speak from hearing. he had to learn from books and whatnot buh yeah.
they can speak. |

Yes, a person can speak even though they are deaf.
But they won't know how they sound like because they have no experience on what words sounds like what. So eventuallly they would have to learn on their own to pernouce their own word. Sorry for all those that thought Helen Keller was deaf , but wasn't she only blind ? I must've mistaken that she was deaf or blind. But i read in a book and it said that she was only blind. o.O |

I think deaf people can speak too. They are amazing. It just takes them more time and patient to learn. But they can talk!! |
