..i'm not good with all this technology and pros and cons stuff, and i dunno which to get and who to believe. some people are like "omg only posers have ipods!!" and some people are like "ipods are wayy better than those mp3 players!" help me decide. pinch.gif

well, anyway, these are my pros and cons

mini: nicer, not many features, costs $100 to get replace battery
zen: uglier, a few more features, costs $40 to replace battery, UGLIER (<-- thats what im most concerned about, lol. ><)

i...like the ipod better =x yeah, the zen has a lot more features, but personally i like the ipod a bit better. it's simpler, and since i don't listen to the radio at all or anything, all i really need is something to hold music. And i like how the ipod looks better too, hehe xP

I guess if you listen to radio and need/want all of those features, I'd go with the zen...even if it looks a little scary:rolleyes:

But if you really don't need radio and all that..and want something simple and nice, I'd go with the ipod

by the way, there's only one choice in your poll?

Brianna, THE IPOD IS GAY.
They have so many bad things with it, ipods are shit.
The Zen is so much better, get the zen instead.

Hah, I was just talking to my boyfriend about that. I was planning on getting him an iPod Mini, since he got an iPod for me, but after I found out about some of the cool features of the Zen Micro (It holds more songs for the same price, has voice recording and a radio) I decided to get him that. But it's really up to you. I suggest researching them both before deciding.

go with the zen micro.

it's much better than the ipod.

it has better sound quality, if nothing else (for those that will use the excuse "i'll only use my ipod for my music"

it also has radio, which is quite nice for when you get bored.

i'd also look for something with recording (i don't know if this has recording), but recording is danged useful.

i use my iriver to record lectures- mp3s, 320 kps (if i want), or 128, or numbers in between.

plus, the buttons light up real cool on the micro.

how is this a bash ipod thread? all im asking is what you think i should get. i have researched all that i can research, and it's come down to these two mp3 players that i am still researching, yet still can't decide. and i don't own either one of these mp3 players (obvioiusly) so i dont know which one is truly good, since some of you may have a creative zen or ipod and know if it's really worth the money and/or its a good mp3 player or not.

i never even mentioned anything about "bashing" in my topic.
read before you post next time. wink.gif

i'm telling it how it is. i didn't say ipod suck. i didn't say anything bad about the ipods. i said good things about the micro.

and truely, the micro has better DB to noise ratio than the ipod mini.

and it costs less, i believe.

so; based on the single need of playing music, the micro is the better choice.

unless your needs are having an mp3 player to show off to your friends with.

Have you look at the others rather than these two?
I ditch ipod mini personally becoz so many of my friends have them! It's so not cool. It sounds crap, it doesn't have radio, recording and others. I tried zen and it's ok. But my friend has one and hers broke after two weeks... ermm.gif I dunno if it's zen's problem or hers. I have an iriver myself and i think it's the best!

well, my needs aren't having an mp3 player to show off, but i at least want the mp3 player to be nice, and the zen looks kind of .. weird. pinch.gif

my sister has an iriver, its cheaper and has voice recording and radio and stuff, but it doesn't look very nice. ><

yeah, i know its the features that really count, but like..i dunno. i care a lot about how it looks too. yeah, i know, im weird. biggrin.gif

Ok, I have an iPod, and I use my boyfriend's Zen. The zen can hold more songs for the same price (the 5g one), has a radio, and recording. It glows in the dark, and at first, it may look weird, but you'll get used to it. The touchpad on the zen is a bit delicate though. The iPod is sleeker, a bit easier to understand how to use and has a longer battery life.

ok, well i think the most im concerned about is how expensive it is to replace the batteries for the ipod mini, and how the ipod mini doesn't have a radio.

the zen is cheaper to replace the batteries, and its user replaced, and it has a radio, but it's really weird looking.

how do you know about the db ratio? it all sounds the same? i mean its like you dont need surrond sound for an mp3 player and its like do YOU have an ipod at all? do you have one in your hand and know what it does? do you really need a raido on an mp3 player?

if you have insurance on the ipod the battry gets replaced for free if you guys would read it, if you do not have insurace on it, it cost. like i said this may not be a lets bash ipod but most of the post are.

"We cant help it if the ipods suck, and they are the stupidest thing ever invented. If you have one you are a complete moron and money waster." < you may think that but i dont care its like purswaing someone on getting what YOU want them to get because apple is a main high stream company and zen isnt, who cares? i know i dont? i would rather get quaitly over what it has, ooo for $50 more can get 2 years more of insurance... isnt that good? with zen can you get that? look at facts and dont be some commi who wants to take down main stream

Ipod mini signal to noise ratio: 80 db

Zen micro signal to noise ratio: 98 db
(out of 100 possible for both)

i'll let the numbers do the talking.

you're using a crap source for the ipod mini.

http://home.comcast.net/~machrone/playertest/playertest.htm

look at the wave forms for ipod mini and the zen micro.

you're fighting a loosing battle.

((of course, unless you're talking about the 6gb mini, which is different))

sweetxsimplicity, get the micro.

why?

1- it lights up the buttons.

2- you can record lectures (i assume you're still in school. this is a big plus)

3- it sounds better

4- you can listen to the radio if you get tired of your tunes.

5- it's got a removable battery. buy two, and you double your battery life. it's very cheap to replace when it runs out (compared to other players)
