QUOTE(jacksparrowsgirl03 @ May 8 2005, 10:40 AM) do u want any criticism???cuz i dont want to say anything if you dont want it. but i think it looks nice either way. feel free to criticize. it's up to me to either listen to it or trash it. and btw... the reason the hair is crappy (at least i think so) is because of my program. the vexel program i'm using blunts al the edges of everything, so her hair seems... bumpy in a weird way. |

alright then, here goes....hope this helps u for future pieces.....anyway, i agree with you about the hair, but seeing as how you explained that its the program, we can let that slide for now. I think there should be more definition, more value ranges, for the fingers and toes just to define them a bit more. I REALLY REALLY love the top half of the pants(the part with the light hitting it) that part is super great, makes me want to eat it....jk not really, but thats how good it is...didnt know how else to explain it lol. the bottom halves of her pants look a bit odd...i think it may be the same problem as the hair, because of the program u used. anyway, dont worry bout that cuz thats a minor nitpicky thing. Umm....ok on to the next thing. The skin values are pretty good for the most part, but i dont exactly love the hue you chose for the skin. It looks a little bit TOO white and when u have all those nice warm colors in the rest of the piece it gets a little drowned out. Ok....i took a stab at critiquing ur piece.....lemme know if i helped u out at all! Thats what im here for

I'm not really feelin the hair. The color and the texture just doesnt match up to the rest of the picture in my opinion. I think you did a great job on the face and skin tho. the hair just doesnt do anything for me. Good job overall.

the thing that really sticks out about this vexel are the pants. they look really GOOD and they have ALOT of detail. the hair is always done really well. i am not too crazy about the leaves underneath her but that is just a personal opinion.
great vexel. |

Thats what im here for ok nevermind, i actually dont want criticism. reason being,... this peice actually means a lot to me and many of the things that you mentioned were done deliberately because this is a personal peice of art. maybe it's just you and the way you're saying it, but i really can't take your criticism seriously. it's probably just something with me, but i dont take criticism well when it comes from someone who is not up to par with me (and it's just a little conceited.. i know); i've seen your work and lets just say we have different... tastes. but... thanks for trying, i guess. |

This stuff is just "play around on the computer stuff". My work, especially my illustrations(watercolor, acrylic, and oils) are COMPLETELY different than anything i have ever done on the computer. I dont know what your "taste" is....but aren't artists supposed to have open minds?? To say another artist's work is not "up to par" with yourself, yes like you said it is conceited, but more importantly, it is closed minded. What I dont understand, and this is not directed only at yourself, but at a few other CBers out there as well, is how some of you "artists" dont know how to take criticism. Ok, I can understand if you're not taking art in school or what not, but i know some of you that are, and one thing you should have been taught is how to take criticism, and use it to ur best ability. Yes, you need to defend your work, but have a good comeback when talking about ur work defensively and dont be vague, b/c then it looks like you really dont know your piece well at all, and it gives for a weak defense. But also, when people critique your work, be able to ask them why they think a certain thing, etc. It is a GREAT skill to be able to ask for others opinions and incorporate that into your work. And, it also helps to get an outsider's view because, most pieces of artwork have been worked on for hours, days, months, or even years...and when the artist has been staring at the same piece of art for that long, the idea seems to get lost. Some artists may find after a while that they hate a certain part of the piece, but its just b/c they have been staring at it too long, b/c in the eyes of an outsider, that part may just be the best part of the compostion. I really hate to make this comment any longer, but i just felt something had to be said. I dont mind if you really hate my work that you've seen here on CB, thats your view....but I would like is for you or anyone to tell me how i can make my work better. After all, that is indeed what each artist strive's for in their lives...is it not? Sorry if I offended you in any way..... |
