Independent Div Layers? Options

I think that's what they are called...

Like is it possible to have 2 or more ... so hard to explain...
Me is confused
So, is it possible to get a "Div Layer" into each blu-ish box?

(Seperately, without a scroll bar connecting them?)
Because when I put in another Div Layer, it appears in the blog area... (Yelow-ish box)

I searched an found the "2 div layers side by side" or something along those lines, but when i tried that, the 2nd layer appeared at the top left corner of the blog
