can u watch "too much" tv?? is there a real limit as to wat would be considered too much....and do u think too much tv is bad??

My Opinion: i dont think its too bad because of channels like the Discovery and Fit TV channel.... some programs actually do help ppl learn about things...i kno i have learned new things from sum tv shows and im up to date on big events because of tv

of course you can watch too much tv. yeah, there's shows that are educational and help us in many ways but most people don't watch alot of tv for the educational and informative aspects of it. tv has actually caused people to be less intelligent than they were in the past. my history teacher was talking to me about a study these college kids did where they calculated the IQ of past important/famous people like presidents and they're IQs are much much higher than ours today. Back then, they didn't have internet or tv. they only had books, and i think that books are the best way to educate a person.

It depends on what else you have to do in your life. I mean, some tv programs are educational, but for example - if you go to school, you need time to study, not watching tv all the time.

Watching tv isn't bad, but remember to put in time for other stuff as well.

You can watch as long as you want. But your eyes will turn bad. And yet what you said about "Learning stuff on TV" it goes both ways. You can also learn a LOT of bad stuff on TV.

watching television can be good because of what you said: you get knowledge and other benefits but if you are watching too much, it can start to interfere with your life. like if you are obsessed with it, than you will find yourself sitting home EVERY NIGHT watching television. pinch.gif

if you are a TV zombie and whenever you are home you are watching TV, and only take breaks for the bathroom and food. YEA!!! But i mena you can still be a straight A student and still watch 3-5 hours of TV a day. But i try not to watch it that much, i dont know why though...

yes, like others have said, if watching t.v. is interfering with your outside life, then there is a problem. otherwise, enjoy!

I agree about the Discovery Channel.
Well as long as people don't watch it
more than 8 hours! I consider it that it's bad
for the people who watch it more than 8 hours!
They need some exercising, like go outside
and hangout with friends. Go to the mall so you
can walk a lot. Just something to do with the walks!

i think that yes you can watch as much tv you want but there are better things to do than be a couch potatoe and have your eyes glued to the tv screen. there are even shows that promote ideas to go out there and experience the world, rather than watch it.

I love TV. But I watch it in moderation. So as long as you do that, you're fine.

If TV is all you think about, then that's probably a bit too much.
So basically if it becomes an obsession, that's not exactly good...so I guess that would be the point of "too much tv" in my opinion.

Maybe the question should be about too much computer usage :).

I dont think that watching a lot of tv is a bad thing, unless you're watching it so much that your couch has ass imprints. A life on the couch is still living, so what me worry? As long as I aint dead.

it depends on whether it gets in the way of your responsibilities. if you're failing in school, and you watch tv most of the time, then yea its too much rolleyes.gif

Of course you can, watching too much tv means going blind and loosing your 20/20 vision.

I believe there is a limit I put on myself to aviod watching too much tv. I am nowhere near as bad now as I use to be. I hardly even watch tv. I now I to montior how much time I am the computer though. When I have children, there will be a set number of hours they can watch tv. I believe in being productive, and sitting in front of the tube is not very productive

I would say no, since I'm a TV junkie myself.

But yes, I will admit that there should be a limit. Too much T.V. = more than 4 or 5 hours. I think you can develop problems with your eyes...

Depends on what else you're doing with your time. If you're working out or doing something active or creative, then not really. As long as you're doing other things enough. But if that's how you spend every minute of every day, then yes.
