My hair is so fried from straightening my hair. What gel or cream would your recommend putting on before straightening?

i'm not sure if theres any gels or creams. i used to actually straighen my hair with a clothes iron everyday. i realized how what i was doing to my hair.. and i realized that my natural hair is so pretty with the waves..
so i'm not really sure about gels or creams.. i say just stay off the hot tools for a while and wash it regulary and see if you hair does get any healthier.. hope i helped! |

i don't use hair straighterner. i just use a hairdryer and it acutally stays straight for half the day. but then i love my natural hair with slight waves at the bottom
i don't think there is any kind of gel or cream that would help but i might be wrong. like BELLA_RAGAZZA said, stay off the hot tools for awhile |

You're not supposed to do so much of that on your hair...can't really blame it for being fried....but just stop doing that for awhile and wash your hair with natural shampoo and conditioner and hopefully your hair might turn back to normal...

Definitely something thermasilk. Like one of those heat-activated conditioner sprays. That should do the trick! I used that and it did help my hair.

dont do it for like a week, give your hair a break. then use some stuff that you can get at walmart or walgreens. something that says, before you straighten. or like a leave in conditoner, they work too. pantene pro v stuff works good too.

I straighten my hair every morning. and whenever i do it i put on pantene pro-v silk on before i do it..so it will softening my hair. If you straighten your hair..i suggest you use the Straighten iron that has ceramic metals on it..

well, first of all if you are frying your hair you shoudl try a better straightener. Sedu is an AWESOME straightener, I boguht it and I could not be happier., acutlaly, I coudlb e happier, I would be happier if ti took me 5 mintues to striaghten, which it doesn't, it takes me still half an hour, but my hair is a mess, if your hair is any better than mine ti'll take less time. I don't acutally striahgten my hair much, I usually jstu put it in braids and touch up the ends of the braids and I'm happy
![]() There are lots of creams and stuff to protect your hair from heat damage, go to your local london drugs or something and look, or maybe a hair stylest, w/e, there's tons of choices. QUOTE(weirdness @ May 3 2005, 1:01 PM) blowdrying only works for certain types of hair, usually the striaghter, softer kind. For people who have curlier, frizzier, or corser hair it jsut makes it pouffier. Sure, it makes it striaghter, but WAY pouffier. Brushed and a littlie blowdried (just at the end mind you, but really, blowdrying doesn't do anything for me): http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v230/Fiz...airHORRIBLE.jpg NOT brushed, and air dried in a bun: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v230/Fiz...esnoblynice.jpg ![]() |

the risk of straightening your hair so much will fry your hair. i would try to avoid it by straightening my hair less.

My hair is completely fried too... I have been dying my hair for the last 6 years and blow drying it. Recently I started using Dove "smooth and sleek" cream. It works great!!!! Use it on your bangs before blow drying. And give your straightening iron a rest until you buy some heat protecting spray.

I use it everyday, but i dont mean to ><
i hate it, it looks like dried grass. I wanted to try thermasilk, but never got around to buying it. Try not straigning for a week, or dont straighten it if you dont need to on days. |

Condition like crazy (I use a whole bottle of conditioner before I use even half a bottle of shampoo) use some leave in conditioner. But, lay off the hot tools! Summer's coming so you can just put your hair in a bun and go. And always trim your ends every few weeks. Blow drying doesn't always work, if you have curly or corse hair it just makes it frizzier!
