ELEMENT HOMEWORK:i need to figure out what is the answer for ..
4. the number of electrons can be held in the first orbit ( closest to the nucleus) 5. the number of electrons that can be held in the second orbit. 6. the number of electrons that can be held in the third orbit. The worksheet doesnt provide answer choices to fill it out. Anyways, i have 8 problems, 5 problems are completed. 3 incomplete problems for you to help me ;] By the way, the book doesnt show any clue for it because the worksheet isnt part of the book. |

err..i know the outermost electrons are the valence electrons..if that helps

Oh I know this...
Depending on the element.... The first can hold up to two And the rest can hold up to eight. Simple  Err i think its correct

first shell 2
second shell 8 third shell 8 forth shell 2 then from there it adds 10 more to the thrid shell then adds 30 to the fourth shell.. |

the first three are 2, 8 and 8. its not four, even tho it would make lots of sense and be easier, its not.
