i have a hispasian or mexikorean friend whatever you wanna call her and she seems to be more proud of here korean or asian side than her mexican side. now not that i think that she should be ashamed of it or anything but it bugs me a little. why is she so proud of he korean/asian but hardly ever mentions her hispanic/mexican side. she's all "asian pride" but good luck getting her to say "hispanc pride" or anything like that lol. do you have any friends like this?

Well I`m Jamaican/Chinese/Indian and I`m more proud of my Jamaican quarter since I used to live there...and I my whole family is Jamaican...nothing wrong with that.

... Not really. I'm half Vietnamese and half Cantonese (Chinese), but I'm more proud of my Cantonese heritage than my Vietnamese one. It's my choice to do so because I wasn't exposed to much of my Chinese culture when I was younger. Plus, not being able to understand/speak/read/write in chinese really bothered me.
Maybe your friend feels that way too? Maybe not. Why should it matter to you? If she disrespects her hispanic heritage and it offended you, then you should talk to her about it. |

I knew you were half Vietnamese and half Chinese, but I didn't know it was Cantonese! Do you understand any of it?  I know a few people who are mixed, most white and Chinese. I wouldn't say they're more proud of one or another, but they seem to suppress the Chinese side more? |

No. I don't think so? LOL Yea. like tooeffingcrazy mayb she was more exposed to her asian side then her hispanic side. I do have one frend tho whos 98% Flip and 2% German (or at least she says so). Nd she always go.."Well Im not asian. Im European." But she still respect her asian side.

i know some white people that are convienced there black, liek they try everythign they can to be ghetto but w/e so along and shop at abercrombie you litle wantabe ghettos. i mean what ever happen to american pride (i'm asian tho)

Nope, Since most of my friends are 100% english
 But the ones who have other nationalities in them then they just say they're english. They don't see the others as that important. I suppose I wouldn't as really, your actual nationality is the one on your passport.. kinda.. iffish.. I dunno

my friends who are 1/2 white and 1/2 chinese are all more for "asian pride" as you put it. i dont know why, but it doesn't bother me.

i actually understand wat u mean... i've known couple of ppl like that. its like their kinda ashamed of it but they would never say that.
in a situation like this deres really nothing u can do cept talk to her n jus simply ask her why she prefers to boost her asian side more. dont make a big deal of it. and try to understand that everyone has something they are overly proud of and it might not seem like a big deal for u but it is for them. maybe when they are older they'll understand to embrace everything they are including their hispanic side |
