Kids these days.. are rediculouse! I had a little 4 year old cuss me out the other day! She was calling me names.. (So I called her a brat and fliped her off shifty.gif )

Anyways, I think that it was a little out there to have them handcuff her..

But, honestly, little kids are rediculouse these days! They are so disrispectful!

I don't know if this is true or not, but I don't think a 5 year old can really harm anyone... I think handcuffing was necessary and even if they didn't handcuff her, she'd get a good beating from her parents anyway (verbal or physical, depends). This actually happened at my elementary school quite a while ago... They had to call in teachers to pull the kid down.. Very chaotic blink.gif Despite his attempted punches and thrashes, they didn't need to call the cops. For a 5 year old, I don't think she should've been arrested. The teachers could've handled that. Maybe.. Got a counselor or something..

I think it's mean.

To me, the girl just appears to be naughty, over-active OR have some mental problems.

Handcuffing is not the way to solve this problem.

no, she's only 5 years old. her brain isnt even fully developed into an adult's yet, how would she know truly right from wrong and make good judgements?

she knows to be quiet and sit still when told.

for thousands of years 5 year olds have known that.

QUOTE(simplicityxx @ Apr 23 2005, 3:44 PM)
I think arresting a 5 year old is getting a little too far, but I do agree that kids are just getting worse and worse. But it is part of the parents' fault on how their kids turn out.
*

ya I agree, it's the peers AND parents fault that some little kids are acting up, if I do say so myself I was quite a ncie little kid happy.gif although very..wild, IW as all over the place, and very talketive, now I'ms till kidna active I guess but I'm very quiet...weird...I ahve like nothing in comen with my old self, hah hehe.gif well, anyway, the kid was probalby jsut having a tantrum, she's only five, give her a break, who wants to bet she grows up and is one of the nicest kids in highschool? rolleyes.gif could happen, and I don't think they needed to handcuff her, since I mean surely police officers can handle a five year old girl WITHOUT handcuffing her, jeez laugh.gif

Ok I just came of midnight shift taking care of four mentally challenged men so I'm not completely up to par right now but I wanted to add my thoughts. At work with my 4 guys things can get hectic. One of my men is deaf and he is almost 300 pounds. I have been trained in many different ways on how to take down and restrain an out of control person without getting hurt myself. Dont they offer this training to teachers? If not then they should. I have to recertify every year and it does keep things fresh in your mind. I have had them try to bite me, try to bang their heads against the wall, try to bust any glass items that might be around. It can be a dangerous situation. Now when my deaf resident looses control at school they all leave the room and who do they call? ME. I am just a little thing that he could break in half but I drive down there and walk into the room where he is locked up, usually sobbing uncontrollably. I swear to you as soon as he sees me he runs toward me. The first time, they thought he was coming after me but when I continued toward him unafraid and he wrapped me up in a big old bear hug they all breathed a sigh of relief. As I led a calm resident out of the school as happy as a lark they all just stood there shaking their heads. He definetly needed love. Now when he gets upset(I think they react badly because he doesn't hear how loud he is screaming and crying and they just automatically think he is raging) they just sign to him that if he needs Nicole just tell them. If he asks for me they give him a time out to chill and some paper to draw on till I get their and knowing I am coming calms him down. I believe its all about being understood.
I also take care of a 6 yr old girl who has emotional problems. When her mom comes to pick her up she throws a fit and doesn't want to leave. Her mom will stand there and watch her scream and cry on my floor making a spectacle, waiting for her to be "done" The first time I allowed it, the second time I picked up the raging child and carried her out to the car. I said I love you and I will see you tommorrow and proceeded to put her in her moms car. She calmed down just a tad bit so I took the oportunity to reward her getting some control and ran in to get her a blow pop. We have not had any problems with her at all now and you'd never know she used to act like that. I dont show fear and I dont sit and wait for them to be "done". If it were me with the little girl i would have taken her to the gym and said its OK to be angry but NOT to take it out on other people
go ahead and run some of that anger out. Then I would have ran with her and pushed her for a race, see if she could keep up with me. After she was tired I say ok now we are learnin better ways to deal with our anger and if you have a problem again you let me know you need to blow off some steam.
There are definate alternatives to getting the authorities involved and you have to negotiate with your knowledge of whats important to that child. I have probably made no sense at all and I'm not even checkin my spellin but those are my thoughts.
Much Love,
Nicole

_dry.gif i think she deserved to be handcuffed dont get me wrong i adore kids buh there are limitations ... its the parents fault .. kids arent sent to school to be disciplines theyre there to learn .. parents need to take action ... discipline yer child .. so nothing like this will happen

^so its was alright for them to handcuff a kid who has been alive for 5 freakin years? sides, u cant just discipline ur kdi. it takes time and kids will still do stuff wrong.

dang, five years old. Only a wimp couldnt take her! I think i saw that on the news. shes in KINDEGARTEN nd she was african american. but
maybe that had nothing to do with it.

Its the parents fault.

They should have been better about raising their kid.
They should have beaten their kids, beat dicipline into them

The one above really sends out a message.
That girls parents have failed.
