I talked with him last night and I told myself I wouldn't trip this time. I fell headfirst into the three seconds he spoke words. I ran around in the night looking for an answer I knew I would find if I turned around. I laughed looking up at the stars and wondered if I were looking at Mars or an unknown planet. I asked him Can you see? Can you see? And his smooth voice guided me through the new world I was finding. I felt brave for the first time, choking down screams my chest was itching to release. There's always something to say. But he didn't believe me. So I tried to lift his spirits when he put mine down and forgave him for being unnoticing. It's only until his turn. I noted to myself, it's only until his turn.
I thought to ask about him and where he was and why that was. But his quiet made me see the mistake and I knew I'd misunderstood the whole time. I must've apologized a million concerns but he needed to hear each one that hid the reluctance. I ached to whisper You're all I want going for me in the dead of our enrapt, but knew of the traps he set and smiled, turning complacent. I bit my lip at the prospect of loving him, I knew the very shot. I wished within that last second he wouldn't say goodbye.
