I agree on the White Album.. How about the album by The Who.. I would also say that one of Tupac's CDs should be up there..

I don't know if you guys would agree but I really like Sugarcult's Palm Trees and Power Lines ... but it probably isn't that great.
I like soundtracks: Chicago and Dirty Dancing are one of the greatest soundtrack albums. ![]() |

QUOTE(funbobby @ May 9 2005, 4:59 PM) And you knew it was coming! In your opinion, what are the greatest albums ever created. Non-subjective hopefully, but hey I'm into all kinds of kinky shit. Beatles - White Album Creedence Clearwater Revival - Cosmo's Factory Coldplay - Parachutes Michael Jackson - Thriller Busted - Busted I embraced the search button ![]() You think Thriller is better than Off The Wall? Miles Davis- Kind of Blue Any fan of music that does not know the name Miles Davis, is not a fan of music. This 6 track album is the culmination of what jazz is all about. Oh, not to mention the greatest trumpet player of all time is accompanied by the greatest saxophonist of all time (Coltrane). John Coltrane- Blue Train Basically, I'm saying the same as I said for Miles Davis. John Coltrane was lost in the music to inspire and personally touch the souls of his listeners. If it was a masterpiece, great. If it wasn't, great. The importance of songs like Naima was to evoke your inner spirit. Charles Mingus- Mingus, Mingus, Mingus, Mingus, Mingus Jazz isn't all about tranquility to the sounds of a brash brass or a laid back back woodwind. It doesn't have to be just improv and it doesn;t have to be boring. It can be the inspiration for funk and an experimentation ahead of its time. Enter: Charles Mingus Depeche Mode- The Singles 86 Alternative music, b!tches. Do you think there would've even been a Blink 182 if a band like Depeche Mode hadn't come along? I think not. The Roots- Illadelph Halflife Newsflash, you genre-confused schmucks, hiphop can be made with live instruments (drums, guitars, pianos) and the lyrics can have substance. Actually, that IS hiphop, THIS is hiphop. The Roots. Public Enemy- It Takes A Nation of Millions Why are minorities so militant? Must it take a loud and obnoxious voice like Chuck D's to inspire a generation to become politically active and aware of the social injustices of America? I guess so. Black empowerment, social equality, quest for a better tomorrow, and pure, uninhibited rebellion... suckas! The Beatles- White Album The beauty of music is enough to make a human being shed a tear. Witness music in its majesty. Laugh, cry, enjoy life and get to know The Beatles. Prince- Purple Rain The 'gender bender' is a damn good musician. He can sing, he can play the guitar, he writes his music and composed much of Purple Rain himself. In the post-funk-80s-soul era, I dare you to not know who Prince is. This is before he became the 'Artist Formerly Known As An Unpronouncable Symbol,' this is when his songs could get you on your feet, and flow you because of the lyrics. Amazing. Michael Jackson- Off the Wall One of the last pure r&b albums every created. Back when r&b was r&b and not romance for thugs or an excuse for someone who couldn't make it singing in church to try to 'get a deal.' Lets not forget, Michael Jackson was still a ripping young black male with a flawless rep and no amusement park in his backyard. Thriller was incredible, BAD was amazing, but they fail to match the character of Off The Wall. Lil John & the Eastside Boyz- Crunk Juice Let me begin by saying that the songs on this album annoy me. Their radio airplay has me banging my head up against a brick wall and Lil John's voice is like nails on a chalkboard. This is a hard album to analyze if you can't get past the grammar, bigoty, objectification of women and pointless lyrics but once you do, you'll see what I see. The atmosphere and climate of hiphop has been re-written by the emergence of crunk from underground to mainstream. Ok, thats great, but then to sample SLAYER? THink about how this album single handedly will be a historical icon in music. Love it or hate it. Personally, I can't stand Crunk Juice. But this album... wow. |

QUOTE You think Thriller is better than Off The Wall? No I think 'Bad' is his greatest album. 'Man in the mirror', 'Smooth Criminal' his most exciting album I find, I was trying to be subjective. 'Pet sounds' Beach Boys Self-titled (I call it the burning monk album) and 'Evil Empire' (I am the only person I know who likes this album) - Rage against the Machine 'Legalize it' - Pete Tosh 'OK Computer' - Radiohead 'Pearl' - Janis Joplin 'Nimrod' - Green Day |
