there's a difference between passive and knowing how to avoid conflicts. and i think conflict avoidance is an important part of being a mod.
If you guys are really that strapped for people, why not get a few ex-staffers to come back as temps to tide you over till hiring is done? I'm sure most of them would be willing to help out a bit, particularily the ones that are still in summer vacation.

better than rushing through a modding and ending up with not so good mods.

We're not rushing. A lot of the cantidates have long been considered for modship.

I would like to say that around 75% of the mods at minimum are doing a fantastic job! happy.gif If it weren't for these mods, createblog would not be where it is today. In my opinion they are helping this site progress to its full potential. Unfortunatly though, there are some mods who are abusing their powers of mods. I will not say any names but there are a selected few whom all their activity is shutting down threads. I have nothing against closing threads but the only thing that really bothered me was when i saw an individual mod shut down a group in the lounge because it was in the wrong area, in the same day i saw a different mod post another group similiar to the other in the lounge. The previous mod who shut down the other group did not speak of this and acctually CONTRIBUTED to the group. Please understand i have NOTHING against these mods i think they are wonderful, but i just believe that there are a SMALL few who are not doing thier job very well.

I do understand that being a mod must be difficult and i understand that. All i ask of is a little progression. I hope this did not offend to anyone, if it did please notify me and i will greatfully edit.

Do you have suggestions, complaints, or compliments as to how the moderator staff is performing? Voice your opinions here.

Make this thread helpful for the mods.

Mods are members, also. So member bashing is not allowed, as always. Don't make it a personal vendetta, please. Keep the bashing at 0%, please.

Any moderator has the right to close and unpin this thread at the signs of bashing, pointlessness, and/or any other guideline breaker.

I do hope this works out. I want to stress that this is not the place for personal attacks. If you really have to, keep it in the PM system between you and the mod. This thread is here to help mods work better with members.
So...your thoughts?
EDIT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

To avoid redundancy and to leave room for valid comments, posts consist of concerns/suggestions that have been addressed will be deleted. Please do not post something someone already brought up because your post will be considered as spam. The only exception to this rule is compliments.

Also, please do not make this thread into a full scale discussion. Its main purpose is for members to evalute moderator performance. If your question/concern has been answer, cease to post here until you have another concern. Thank you.

I will not like to break these rules

^ Selv, You make a pretty good point.

Thanks for the feedback.
I would still PM maybe a head staff member or administrator with more details about the situation.
That way you would not be making it a "personal attack" in this thread and you can have privacy and what not, yet still alert us about a certain mods performance.

Or you can PM the actual mod that you found lacking, and talk them about the situation.

Selv - Actually, I'm pretty sure none of that applies to you.

It'd be extremely helpful if you could help us out and give us specific examples. Don't worry about hurting anyone's feelings; as long as it's constructive we respect your opinion. However, I agree with Katie, if you'd like to discuss the matter privately I'd be more than willing to listen, as would any other head staff or administrator.

PM or even post here your exact concern, Selv. In all honestly, I've had several PMs from posters asking me why I've closed a topic, if I can reopen (or move) a topic and often, believe it or not, if I can close a topic. I'm never offended by this, and I do not believe that any of the staff here would be offended. It's communication, regardless of whether or not we agree on what should and should not be closed, moved, merged, etc.

Remember that it's Open Door Policy here.

Also, know that not one person can be here 24 hours a day and that we might close something or move something, go away for a few hours, come back and post in a topic, not remembering that we had just moved (or closed) something similar. I think all of us on staff has had that "doh!" moment. Like it's been mentioned before, just let us know what your concerns are. _smile.gif

sorry, on a completely unrealated note, why is this thread the only one which seems not to have a new 'version' after 20 pages?

because it's special..

On a lighter note I would like to retract everything I have said about Kathleen... she has proved to be a great mod so far, and hope that she proves to be a great mod in the future.

I don't know about the other admin/heads, but I was waiting for 50 pages to be completed. Guess I missed it. pinch.gif

There wasn't a limit made for this thread but since threads like this are more useful than Members' Photos or Anonymous Shoutouts, leaving it more than 20 pages allows someone to track things said in here more easily. shrug.gif
