Ok, I searched for topics similar to this, and I didn't see anything. (If there is, sorry!) But I got my ears pierced on January 1st at Claires. It never got infected.. till I used one of those "sensitive solutions" earrings from Claires. Well now it's infected, so I went back to my old gold earrings. What can I do to make the infection go away.. w/o having my pierced ears to close? I clean it everyday w/ that stuff they give you. Well if your ears do get infected, about how many days till it's ok?

I've never gotten my ears pierced at Claires. But my ear got infected once and it took about 2 weeks for it to get better.

i got my ears pierced, not at claires, and they got infected for a while, it heals up itself if you keep your earrings in but wear real gold ones and dont take em off i guess, so your ears wont close up, but it'll take longer to heal

make sure you clean them properly before putting them on. but i don't think you should change your earrings so soon, i thought you're suppose to wait like half a year before you start wearing other types of earrings

Keep using the solution.
If it gets really bad, see a doctor or something.
That happened to me too after I got my 3rd and 4th piercings done. It'll be alright. I just used the solution and waited it out.

make sure you're not wearing earrings 24/7
and leave the posts off sometimes because they can mess up your ears if they're too tight

if you don't wear them all day, there is the chance they can close up especially seeing your piercings are still relatively new. and don't remove the posts, because your earring can fall out (thats the whole point of posts) just loosen the post in the back. anyways...

i've had my ears pierced before at claires, and they do tend to get a bit more infected than other places, but maybe they're not as sterilized, who knows. But, I never really used their solution that they gave me because it's just rubbing alcohol, which I'm sure everyone has. I just used that .. clean front and back of the earring and try to getbehind the posts. But, your ear is likely to get more infections within the first year because it's still new. But, if after a year you are still getting infections, get it checked out because it is possible that your body has rejected the new piercing, but I'm sure that is'nt going to happen. Just keep cleaning it.

Yeah, stick with the gold ones and just keep using the solution. It'll get better eventually. It happens to me too.

those earring are fake, right? well if they are.. it's casue you're allergic to the fake earrings. my friend is like that. she gets nasty bloody rashes lol. if you are, then just use gold earrings to heal them. clean them with antiseptic too.

okay my ears ALWAYS gets infected and what you do ( my mom instructs me to do so ) you wear your gold earrings cause they are supposed to be REALLY REALLY good that you cant get worse from them.. or something.. anyhow, if you have bleeding or like this dead skin around your ears clean it with the stuff they give you everyday. It takes for me about 1 week for it to return back to normal.. oo and make sure you DONT SCRATCH YOUR EAR (piercing hole surroundings) because that would only make it worse. umm... and... wipe the earring that made you infected really good and maybe you shouldn't wear those anymore.

Possible causes for infection :

1. the earring and backing is pinching your earlobes too much
2. the earrring itself is bad (special sensitive earrings dont usually work... )
3. you have been scratching your ears and somehow dirty stuff got into it
4. you never clean it for the first.. month? of your piercing.

I have a total of 9 earing`s. And when i got my 3rd and 4th one`s done...they got so infected the lady at Claire`s pierced it so tight that air couldent get to it, and it started sucking the earing in my ear, and skin was growing over it. I had to pull it out..which hurt like a bitch. cry.gif There still infected to. And i got mine done the day after christmas. I just keep using the cleaner they gave you, and dont let anyone else touch it, make sure your hands are clean also before cleaning them. Good luck infection`s suck. wacko.gif

You're probably allergic to sterling silver. Stay away from cheep earrings and don't go below 14 karet gold. Just keep the normal earrings in, and yeah. It'll get better on its own.

i never had an infection. that's why i only wear gold earrings permanently. if i wear any sterling silver ones, it's for one day.

Well, make sure you keep the earrings in, if not they WILL grow over.

I don't know if anyone else does this, but alchohol (sp?) helps, I put that one mine, but you kinda just have to deal with it..

Esp when you have 8 holes in your head
