There are some kids at my school that attempt to get that look without using a real grill.
They actually take the foil wrapper from a stick of gum and they wrap it around their top and bottom sets of teeth.

He's not really a poser when put into perspective. He doesn't claim to be a thug or gangsta. If you're immersed an a particular environment, you'll become a product of that.

Vanilla Ice claimed he was a thug reppin' D-Town and got called on his street cred. Paul Wall has street cred because he was a DJ, he makes grills and (like it or not), he's one of the most recognizable southern rap artists.

Its definitely a southern deal more than anything. If you're not familiar with "the hood," and you don't understand how important materialism is to people who don't have a lot, then the whole concept of putting 200 grand in your mouth is pretty absurd. But what better way to boast such an irresponsible use of money other than to put it in your mouth?

I'm not in HS anymore but I only left a few months ago. But I never saw and grills and thank goodness. They're one of the stupidest things I've ever seen in my honest opinion. I don't mind a single gold/silver tooth, I think that little accent is cool. But a whole row of teeth like that is wasteful and stupid looking to me. Especially these days with putting "ice"(diamonds) in it. When you get rich enough to put diamonds set in platinum on all your teeth thats when you need to donate all that excess money to people who can't even afford braces.

i haven't actually seen anyone wearing them at my school most likely cauz i go to a very preppy, suburban CT high school where most ppl go for the A&F/summer girl look but I have seen a lot of guys wearing them when i go shopping in NYC

no, my school is considered the "hick" school, so we don't have anyone with grills.

here too....the only grills people here are concerned about are the grills on their trucks or on their tractors haha
