QUOTE(wonders79 @ Mar 16 2005, 11:01 PM)
i've heard...it's like people born 1989 (in cali) and under can only get their liscence till 18.
but guess what...THE LAW DIDN'T PASS YET! _smile.gif
*

it was a bill, but it got vetoed

when people heard of it, rumors got started, and it was blown way out of proportion
what is true though, is that until you turn 18, you are under a "provisional license"

QUOTE( California DMV - www.dmv.ca.gov )
Provisional driver license restrictions during the first year

The following restrictions apply to minors when issued a provisional driver license.

You must be accompanied and supervised by a licensed parent, guardian or other licensed driver 25 years of age or older or a licensed or certified driving instructor when you:

    * Transport passengers under 20 years of age at any time, for the first six months.
    * Drive between midnight and 5 AM for the first 12 months.

Persons under 18 may not be employed to drive a motor vehicle. When you become 18, the provisional part of your license ends. You may continue to drive as an adult using your photo license, which will expire on your 5th birthday after the date you applied.

which basically means that for the first 6 months of your license, you can't drive people under 20, and for the entire first year, you can't drive during the hours from midnight to 5AM.

Wow..........all this law stuff.......

In Australia, you can get your Learner's drivers license as soon as you turn 16, which is a computer test with multiple choice questions that are randomly chosen from a large database of Questions about driving, safety and stuff. When you turn 17 you can take a practical driving test to get another license, not full license, but just another step up on the way to getting one~

I'm 16, and learning how to drive~ I did my first hour on the road on Sunday~ ^^ Was exciting but scary!! Before that, I always used the big empty carpark at 8:30pm when everythings closed and nobody's around!

In Hong Kong, you're not allowed to even get Learner's until you turn 18.........thats what I heard.

Well I dont live in Cali, but I got my Learners license On the 4th. The test isnt easy. My friend was telling me it was common sense, but my mom made me study, and I'm glad she did. My mom also told me she has to get her license in Cali, because she moved there and the test is more difficult than Florida's. pinch.gif

Remember to turn your head like.. all the way when looking left and right.. "scanning" and whatnot. They'll mark you off for it. Yay I only made 5 errors! Too bad I don't have a car or insurance. mellow.gif
