If someone tries to talk to you through a messenger, and you don't want to talk to them, you can simply ignore/block their screenname/e-mail.

I talk to people like that. I humor them and sometimes some of them turn out to really be cool friends while others turn out to be the stalker type freaks. That's when you embrace the warn or block button. They do wonders.
