Yeah. Kayso, found out some not-so-great news earlier today. I'm too lazy to type it all out, so here's what I wrote in my xanga:

"Ever since I was pretty much old enough to walk, I'd always been around my neighbor, April, and her older brother, "Buhbuh." I remember when I was really little I'd always go over to their driveway and play basketball with April, because that girl always had a basketball in her hands. I'd never in my life looked up to someone the way I did to her. She was always just the nicest thing. She's... I think 6 years older than me, and she was Homecoming Queen for Berkmar a her senoir year and she made the newspaper a few times for her basketball skills and all that good stuff. She went to North Georgia College on a basketball scholarship and she was, hands down, going to have a professional career in Women's basketball. That girl was just amazing.

Anyway, her older brother, "Buhbuh", was an Abercrombie and Fitch model. Totally gorgeous, just the nicest guy ever. I was like... in love with him when I was just a little toddler. So, this past summer, he moved to California. April went to visit him this summer, and they'd ride their bikes all the time in Hollywood and everything. So today, we just found out that the reason she's been home for a while is because...

One day while they were riding their bikes, a cement truck hit April from behind and somehow knocked her under the truck. The guy didn't even realize he'd hit her until he felt the bike under the tires, but by then, he'd already drove over her legs and feet. For weeks, the doctors thought they'd have to cut off both of her legs, but thank GOD, she's walking again. Of course, it's going to take years of therapy to try and recover, but she'll never play ball again. Ever. That girl doesn't deserve that. I bawled when I found out earlier."

Oh, and she's been extremely depressed lately, I'm sure you can understand why. She's been going to a psychiatrist because she's been suicidal.

I love that girl to death. It's so sad, she was one of the best people I ever knew. She doesn't deserve what had happened to her.

Kids, be smart. Wear your damned helmets. Be smart. The only reason she's still alive to this day was because of that helmet that kept her head from slamming against the pavement.

Take care everybody.

ohmy.gif It's traumatic how that happened and the state that she's in.. sad.gif

When my boyfriend was 10 or something, he was riding his bike and his brakes were broken (I think), he was falling down some canyon-hill-dip thingy and he hit into a tree before falling all the way down. Luckily, he was wearing a helmet. If he hadn't worn a helmet, he would've cracked his skull and died. cry.gif And I would've never met him. My probably would've been entirely different. Not to mention that I'd be alone sad.gif Oh yea, and his helmet cracked in half, after he crashed! That's how dangerous it was.

Hopefully your friend will get better and will be able to get over this. There will be many life-changing experiences that we all have/will go(ne) through, but it's how we get through it all that is important. I wish the best for her. _smile.gif

The truck driver should get sued, if he didn't.

Anywho, that's a really tragic story... good luck to her. she seems like a really brave sort of person...

And yeah, you really should wear ur helmet.
This one guy came into our school one day to talk... he was paralyzed from the neck down (he could still sort of move his arms, but not his fingers) because he was riding his bike and he was crossing an intersection and he didn't see a truck coming. He said that the only thing keeping him alive was his helmet. That guy was truly amazing because he was trying to go from I think the top of North America to the bottom of South America. He was supposed to go in the Guiness book of world records, too, if he hadn't had that injury.

Wait, what does wearing a helmet have to do with her feet getting crushed? I mean I know wearing a helmet when you're riding is important and all, but I don't think it really relates to what you wrote. Because you're saying you're depressed and all because she is never able to play ball or whatever, then all of a sudden you're telling the kids to be smart and wear helmets.

Anywho, she has my sympathy.

Oh gosh that's horrible!! But at least she's not dead! Goodness for that. That's really sad that she doesn't go out that much and she's getting depressed about it too. I mean I probably be in the same situation as her if that happened to me too. Losing 2 legs is not a fun thing to experience. The worstest ever.

When I was reading that, the part she got her 2 legs wounded and injured. I thought her brother was going to save her. Didn't her brother noticed? Didn't he warned her though? Dang how big was that truck? Anyways, not all perfect people gets everything perfect.

I guess it's her purpose to have 2 legs gone in her life. I won't say she deserves it. I'm just saying that, it's her purpose and maybe God has set a plan for her. Maybe she was a mean/badass girl inside, but in outside, she seems nice and friendly. So someday, she will learn her mistakes and be a nice girl? You never know what pains can change you. I would cry a lot if that was my crush or my family heh.

But if it was someone, I'm kinda careless about it because I don't know that person that much. But yeah, the only thing I can say is that I feel bad for her. Hope she doesn't die, and keep on living because you never know she might get famous just by learning her mistakes and her pains!
