I know this is a really really sensitive issue, and i do want to approach it in a way that will give me an understanding, and help. if people find this offensive, please note that i am in no way trying to be. i just need some insight.

there's a problem in my hall with the students. I am in the RA in the hall, and it seemed to work out that all the african american students were put into one hallway (i still think my director did this on purpose, because i think she's a racist)

well, anyway, things were going good in the begining of the year, until i had to write a student up for a noise violation. then the girls started to be mean.

they call not only me, but all white ppl "crackers" when they walk down the hall. They yell and scream all hours of the night and day. whenever i ask them to please quiet down (it is midterm week) Ok, the major thing is when I had to write someone up for alcohol (they were underage) they started to fight with me, saying i was writing them up because they were black. i've even seen them pick on a girl who was half white, half black, calling her a traitor, and she was not really black.

let me state i am not racist in the least. my aunt is black, and i'm friends with all sorts of ppl, male and female, from different countries. i know ppl from kosovo, guinea, middle east, etc.

it just seems that these girls are acting in a group, trying to intimidate everyone. why would they bring up such an issue as race, and try to make it a problem.

i just thought maybe someone has gone through this before. i tried to tell my director, but she says "we don't need lawyers in here." this was after an african american student beat up a girl because she tried to ask this girl why she didn't like her for 'being white'. the girl got off free.

wow, your school got major issue. You can report this to the school district because that is not how school is suppose to be. They need to stop the hatred and racism. anyways, when you walk pass by, just said Hi and be friendly to them because they will respect you too. I think that might helps. Good luck.

aww... you arent being racist at all... did you notice they have scholarships for only african americans, asians, hispanics, indians but if they made on only for white people then people would complain about them being "racist" its stupid. Nowadays white people are the minorities... but anyways... im off topic. I think that you need to tell whoever split them up in the first place which is not cool... (why must they be segregated?) they need to do the whole warnings thingie and not you...

Oh my gosh..Segregation is still around? I thought they had that Brown Vs. Board thing? (?__?)

Anywho! That happens to me at school a lot. I get called"Nigga" and "Cracker." I don't get it, because I'm full white. (?__?)

i'm just worried. i don't want to get in trouble because these ppl say "i'll get lawyers after you for writing me up cuz i'm black" i don't want trouble. but ppl come to me all the time saying that they're afraid to walk down my hallway

i just wish i knew why they felt like they have to put up this strong facade. we're all ppl afterall, and i do want to get to know them. i don't understand why they think ppl are out to get them. i mean, this is a wealthy, private catholic college. i think i'm from a worse neighborhood, and i don't act like i have a problem with everyone. why is it that some african americans think white ppl are a threat to them?
I know there are still racists out there, and ppl get in trouble when they're innocent, but they're not the only ones. Jews face antisemitism, middle eastern ppl are now being profiled. but i'm a 5'4" college girl, how much of a threat am i to them?

That will not happen unless the person is rich and has enough time on their hand. Why? They would actually have to prove that you're a racist... which would be hard to do if you're not. You can have your other friends voucher for you since they are of a different race.

Ask them about how they it would feel if roles were switched, where the minorities became the majorites and vice versa. How would they feel if Caucasians started telling them "You're only doing this cuz I'm white"
It's stupid...
Anyway, there's no easy way to solve this, since groups tend to hold their opinions more strongly. EVEN if you have someone of the same race as them, they'd consider that one person a traitor.

Haha, my most insane idea was to just completely obliterate humanity. BUT that's stupid, isn't it? pshh, you tell me.

That's sad... like a abuse of normal rascism.
When people are saying things like that, it's like they are discriminating their own race before some people start to do it. I mean, if you don't other people to be rascist, you should be proud of your race first.

I'm sorry you have do deal with stuff like that. I know how it is to be in the middle, because I'm only half black, so people used to call me a traitor like u said they did that one girl. Its really hard too. Because you are raised not to judge against the people who judge you. I think the best thing you can do is keep on doing what you are doing. You arent being racist at all. Black people do that. while people do that. Asian people do it. We all do it at some time I'm sure. That just makes the people who are partial to themselves ignorant and small minded. Theres nothing you can do to fix that. So many blakc people are raised to have a chip on their sholder. This idea that the white man is out to get them. SO they band together on their own. ButI do think you sould report the woman who segregated these girls in the first place. Also, since you are an RA, you might try having a meeting with the girls to explain where you are coing form. And if they did try to take it to court, you will 100% justified in that ticket you wrote up for underage possecion, and the judge will see that and dismiss it. But I think its really important that you report the woman who is ignoring you about this issue, because thats no way to handle it at all. so I would go to higher administration (dean perhaps?) and try to explain whats going on. Because that is just wrong. But you seem like you have a great head on your sholders and its good to see that you arent being shallow and judgemental about the whole thing. Lord knows you could have been like "and those stupid ghetto bitches always makes so much noise" and be bitter about it. So yay for you and good luck.

thanks guys. i needed ppl to sound off on.

i know this college is werid. it's like when there's an issue of race, she brushes it aside. like this one girl who was being bullied by these girls, she told her to "maybe grow up a little, and stand up to them". i'm sorry, i think i'm forward, but i would never want to stand up to a group of 8 ppl.

actually, i talked with some other RA's abou this, and we're going to go to the president of the school. a student that has been here longer than me said that it always seemed that people were sectioned off. for example, the people from africa are on the fourth and third floor. the second floor is half white, half black, and bottom floor is all white. this guy said last year this woman put all the black students on the bottom floor. i just don't get it.

I agree with Dee...

But, first lets not get emotional about White people not getting scholarships, because I went to high school with a guy that got a minority scholarship at a black school. So they just have to try!

Racism exists and it will always exist. Sometimes you can't be friends with all people, but if you can even just find one person to listen to reasoning maybe they can get your story out to the others.
