^ you mean an opinion? if so, that's the point of debating. trying to defend your opinion and make others agree with your point of view.

I've been comparing iRiver H340 with iPod lately at school because my friend recently got an iRiver. Apparently, I found browsing through my iPod much more convient, rather than pressing buttons and such. Well, I find the iRiver to have more options. Anyway, I got the iPod not of free will, but as a gift, and I never really expected it, but I've grown accustom to it. And then, there's always that reason for buying it just because it's apple, and famous people perfer it (the iPod, I mean). Yeah, anyway, the iPod photo is somewhat like the iRiver H340 except without recording and fm. also, I heard the iRiver, and it's just up to parr with the normal 4th generation iPod. Another thing I didn't like about the iRiver was its fat design. I liked how simple the iPod was, and how it could smoothly fit into my pocket. I got annoyed by how the menus and such were set up at the iRiver, because I hated the colors being used. I liked the white rather than the black, because it showed a more...mature look.
I really don't care if my iPod can show pictures or not, because I only mainly use it for Aural pleasure. I mean, if you want the most out of your money simply because you don't want to spend a lot, go for the iRiver. If you want to look like you're worth a whole lot, and you can easily spend whatever you like, get the iPod. If you get either an iPod or an iRiver as a present, and you don't like it, don't be a bitch about it, because atleast you didn't pay for it.

Oh yeah, NOT every mp3 player can act as a hard drive. Most can only store mp3s and such.

and why would you trust ipod more than iriver? this is a debate; please try to use facts.
the iriver h340 costs $400 (list).

the ipod photo 40 gb cost 459.99 (list).  add 50 bucks for recording (although still no line in) and 50 bucks for FM tuner, and you have something costing 550 dollars.  buy a 30 buck case, and your $ 30charger (which isn't included anymore) and you have something costing a nice 610 bucks.

did i mention the river can play videos?

the iriver also comes with a one year warrenty, and they replace it if something happens.

so why do you trust ipod more than iriver?  brand name?  iriver tells you that thier battery will run down in about 5 years if you constantly charge and discharge it.  Does ipod tell you that ater 3 or so years of mederate use, the battery must be replaced BY THEM?  for lots of money? the iriver one can be replaced by anyone. for the cost of the battery.

so why do you trust ipod?

maybe you should look at that a bit.

FM Stereo Tuner • Voice Recorder

to get that on the ipod you need extra accessories.

but stilll; that's not saying anything i don't know. I know the iriver is better than the ipod. it has all the features the ipod has (this site didn't list them all)

of course, that still doesn't explain why you trust ipod more.

its only popular for all its clever advertising. there are many more MP3s that have more memory, are smaller/lighter, and cost less but probly cuz the ipod is from apple, the 2nd biggest computer company in the world (something like that) so people trust it and become suckers to all the fancy advertising. then again, some people like ipods for the design, free engraving, earbuds and big screen.

I only got my ipod because i had to buy a mac. I used to be a graphic designer. the deal i got when i bought my mac is that they would throw in an iPod along with a $200 dollar rebate, so technically i got my ipod for 80 bucks.

still expensive, i know, but now that i have it, i'm glad i do, it's nice not to have to switch cds

BUT

ppl around my graphic design school are really 'artsy', and carry it as a status symbol. some graphic designers do use it to transfer files, but as a graphic designer, i could tell you the campaign was wonderfully done. they really sold this item to ppl

Overpriced.
Anything Apple is $$$
You can get almost double the gigabytes of the Apple iPod for $280-$300, and it looks nicer. (:

...this is a debate on the ipod, not whether or not you're getting one.
