background pixels, what size pixels should i use on paint?

how many pixels like (??x??) should i use if i'm makin a background on paint for my xanga. thanks!

well it depends on your screen resolution. if you want it to fit most people's screens, then that would be 1024x768.

the height should be less because there's the menus in internet explorer and the taskbar that belongs to windows.

I generally make mine a maximum of 800x600 but sometimes I go a few pixels beyond

I think 1024x768 is safer than 800x600, because 1024x768 backgrounds still look okay on a 800x600 resolution; on the other hand, a 800x600 background usually will look messed up on a 1024x768 resolution.

I hope you get what I mean.
