Insider wrote an article about the scenario of trading Kobe Bryant. It was an interesting read, and before anyone crucifies this thread, make sure you read it with an open mind.

Scenario 1 - Chicago Bulls

Lakers get Tyson Chandler or Eddy Curry, Erick Piatkowski, Othella Harrington & Ben Gordon

Meh, this ones outta the question, bulls had a chance at him during summer and realized they would have too trade too many of their core players so bleh

Scenario 2 - Memphis Grizzlies

Lakers get Stromile Swift, Mike Miller, James Posery, & Earl Watson

A big man like Swift or maybe Miller can really help the lakers out a lot

Scenario 3 - Seattle Supersonics

Lakers get Ray Allen & Radman

Ray Allen, seems like a good trade but why trade an all star for a lower tier player? =/

Scenario 4 - Los Angeles Clippers

Lakers get Corey Maggette, Chris Wilcox, & Marko Jaric

You have Maggette who is a good defender like Kobe, and can score (not quite like Kobe). You also have the keys to the deal...two young players. Chris Wilcox and Marko Jaric are two potential stars and are young and can be molded into good players. Give them time hopefully they'll pay off big.

Keep in mind that these are just RUMORS. The Lakers MUST have learned their lesson of trading a Superstar for a few lower tier players.

Personally, I hate this idea period. No Kobe trade. Trade Lamar and Caron.

Trading Kobe is a ridiculous idea. What is the basis for a trade. That they aren't going to make the playoffs? They have a losing record? They are horrible defensively? None of this is Kobe's fault... Kobe has been doing everything this year. In fact he has also tried everything to get this team to win.

He simply does not have the supporting cast that he needs in order for the Lakers to win. Seriously the Shaq trade was trash we should have shopped around longer and got something better than a broken bloated and untradable contract (Brian Grant), a small forward who only knows how to shoot (Caron Butler), and a player that needs the ball in his hands as much as Kobe (Lamar Odom). These players are nowhere near equal value of Shaq and the Lakers have suffered because of it. We then follow up that disaster by acquiring Chucky Atkins who can't play D and also needs the ball in his hands to be effective. Follow this up with Vlade Divac not playing Karl Malone not resigning and Devon George being injured for the entire year and you get those results.

So the real question should be who can we trade/draft in order to build around Kobe and reclaim our crown.

Besides Kobe has a no trade clause anyway, we would never get anything near equal value for him, and all the trade possibilities are crap anyway.

Besides, in #8's own words: "I'm a Laker for life"

I like Kobe, but I agree with you..he belongs to the Lakers. Although that Ray Allen trade wouldn't be a totally bad idea.

My fantasy, in my mind, I say we get the good ol' Lakers back together, Payton, Fisher, O'neal(seriously.. what were they thinking?!), Fox, Mad Dogg (Madsen), George. The good times...

Odom for Payton, Butler and Atkins (A little guy with horrible D and he complains about every loss when he has done nothing) for Fisher, O'neal... pfft we have no chance of getting him back.

Allen for Kobe? Please, Allen is pure shooter, Kobe is a straight up baller. He could be a Laker next year but I doubt it.

kidd jefferson and krstic? You ok Jason?

Kidd is pure passer//ball distributer something Kobe does very well if not better. Krstic, hes OK on the defensive side but his offense is horrendous mellow.gif Jefferson is a guy we can live without, his defense is on the good side, ver affective like that of Kidd's and Krstic's [on a good day] but we dont need another fouling machine.

Or maybe..this would be a blockbuster fine trade.

Lakers send Kobe to..a really terrible teams that needs a leader. maybe..Hawks? Jazz? I would trade Kobe to Utah for alot of players.

Either..Trade Kobe To The Utah Jazz for Kirilenko, Boozer, Okur, and a draft pick.

Or Trade Kobe to the most terrible team in the NBA, yes it is the Atlanta Hawks for drobnjak, harrington, and future draft picks.

They need players like him cmon. Who does the hawks have?

Or, Also it'll be fine if they traded him to New Orleans. (He was a former hornet)..trade him to hornets maybe for..P.J. Brown, Speedy Claxton, and Magliore will be good. But honestly i think Kobe will be never traded.

Did you guys not read the whole thing? I said thats just what goes on in my mind, my fantasy so DUH of course its not gonna happen. And did you not read all of my first post? I said it will never happen, he even has a no trade clause in his damn contract so there is no possibility of it happening. If anything, I say trade Odom and Butler then I would be happy, if we can get rid of Atkins too that would be great.

Kobe... to the Hawks or the Jazz? pfft, do you realize how many players have to be given up just to get Kobe? Ak47, Boozer, Okur and a draft pick? Think about it, its not gonna happen. Plus, I don't think that they would get rid of Ak47.

The Hawks, damn what happened to them? lol

Dorbnjak, Harrington and Future Draft picks? Please... Give up their future draft picks and 2 of their best [sadly] for for Kobe? No where near equal value. They would practically have to give up all their draft picks for the next 5 years. Plus I think they could do better.

11-60, yeah... they just dont have what other teams have. Big men, and a Floor General. Not like the Damn Mavericks _dry.gif Any trade with the Mavericks then you got a team with potential laugh.gif

Im A Nets Fan..they have 35 wins..do u think they will make the 8th spot in the playoffs? its like a fight between the nets, philly, and orlando..orlando better lose tonight against the nets..and the nets will have 36 wins..and philly has 35 wins currently..and so if the magic lose tonight they will still have 34 wins.

SO THESE ARE THE POSSIBILITIES:

Nets loses Tonight Against The Magic..i think it will really hurt them of making it to the 8th spot..so if they lose

76ers-35-37
Nets-35-39
Magic-35-38

NETS WIN TONIGHT..

Nets-36-39
76ers-35-37
Magic-34-39

Thank god the mavs beat the 76ers last night..that really saved the nets hehe..thank you dallas! I still think the Nets will make the 8th spot of the playoffs. GO NETS! GO KIDD VC!

They could already be a shoe in for that 8th spot if Vinsanity had not choked those last couple games.

Looks like the battle for the 8th spot here in the West.

Alas, the Nuggets are already in for the 8th spot, the T-Wovles No COMMENT. Lakers, even if they do win their next few games being bumped up to the 9th spot means nothing.

Yeah good for the pacers. Lakers, bleh were done and thats ok. We hold 14 rings and thats more then enough. As soon as we get rid of Atkins and Odom, draft (hopefully!!) Sean May in the draft if he holds off 'till the second rounf and umm... crap forgot his name it slips my mind but he was also on the tarheels.

I wish we could get Brian Grant out, I mean he was good, until his career failiing knee surgery had to be done. Its ok though, its ok, there is always next year when our sorry ass coach is gone, and phil comes back to fix everything... its all good.

Jason... FYI (yeah im late on this but I just noticed it) Kobe was drafted by the Hornets but he never even came close to playing a game with them. He was immediately signed by the Lakers which was a good thing. Giving us the three-peat rings.

Re-reading this entire thread... Kobe... and the Hawks. Probably not the most smartest decision... but maybe he can be what starts the fire withing the Hawks cause I mean seriously... 11-61... it does them no good at all. Kobe, one of the best floor generals there is... something the Hawks need... only problem is... what will they have to give up in order for Kobe to give up the purple and gold?
